Hi Ya-all

Inherited this Omega Seamaster with no idea what model of year it is. Anyone out there know more about this watch?
Pictures are not great so will attempt macro shots later.

Welcome to the forum. I would guess this is from 1961. The inscription hints at 1964, but sometimes a watch can sit unsold for a few years. Some similar pieces are discussed in this thread https://omegaforums.net/posts/1707049/

You will need to get it serviced by a competent watchmaker before you wear it. Let us know of you need a recommendation.

Thank you I had guessed 1962. I certainly needs a service and will most likely find its way to a deserving relative who will appreciate.
Any idea of value .... for insurance purpose? In western Canada is there an authorized service center in British Columbia?

I’m couldn’t say a price without better photos. Even then I would be guessing. Maybe $500-$700 CDN? Your lugs seem a little rounded from polishing. Do a search on Ebay’s sold listings for a value. Look at 1960s Seamasters (for comparables, note the thin lugs are different than the thicker lugs seen in the 50s) and check for reference #s 14725 14765 and 14770, you could also look for Seamaster with the excellent 562 movement, which yours likely has. Yours is a front loader, so a watchmaker will need to help you confirm - the back doesn’t come off, the crystal needs to be removed with a special tool to get at the movement). But for insurance purposes $1,500 CDN would ensure you could easily replace yours with one that was collector grade, and serviced, if needed.

Sending it to Omega would cost a bundle and they can often replace vintage parts with new ones, affecting collector value. A good watchmaker with an Omega account will often be fine, and certainly cheaper. Where in BC are you?
