Sent the watch for service with AP on Saturday (so just 4 days ago) and just got the estimate back much faster than I expected. It is a 14486 per the estimate document.

    The watchmaker analysis says:

“Third party intervention - caseback screws damaged. Scratches on the bridges and oscillating weight.”

Anyway, the damage is not so bad, $1350 total consisting of $989 for complete maintenance service and then $379 for “refinishing of the case and bracelet, best possible”.

Seems like a no brainer especially if they can restore the watch appearance and angles of the bezel at least to a certain extent.

    Any contrary thoughts?

Reasonable cost to get it back to a good, more aesthetic condition.

Post some pics when you get it back, it will be like night and day.

Continuing to wear it without a service will guarantee a high repair bill down the road.

Send it in now if you intend to wear it, or only wear it sparingly until you do.

These two-tone Royal Oaks being posted lately are killing me! Beautiful watch! And $1300 all in to rock that beauty on your wrist for years to come is an amazing deal. Best of luck with the service, and enjoy wearing that stunning piece!

Just got the watch back. You guys were spot on, it came back looking pristine! Pictures attached. The before and after is seriously night and day. I don’t know how they did it but AP did an amazing job. The watch is running beautifully and it looks awesome .. the few minor scuffs that remain are visible in the pictures but nearly impossible to see when its on the wrist.

A few pictures on its own and on the wrist - whadya think?

Very nice job very nice precise machining seems like money well spent. Not saying it wasn’t a good amount of money but I would have expected it to be much more

AP After Sales Service is the best in my experience. They can do amazing things in correcting other people's goof ups on the Royal Oak case. It's always hard to believe when you get a properly refinished RO back. Compared to your original pics it is hard to believe.

Thanks for all the comments. It really is like night and day! The properly finished watch looks amazing with all of the fine details and finishing on the case and bezel which really stand out on the smaller sized cases. I’m surprised they don’t still offer a watch of this size .. as much as the new ones are great and have a real presence there is something lost in the detailing as it doesn’t look quite as special on the bigger case.
