Help! I love my Speedy but ...

I wouldn't go for the FOIS for the simple reason that the strap is rather short and is a real hassle to get around my wrist. Much more of an embuggerance than winding it daily, for sure. Which I actually love doing, last thing before I hit the sack. Like saying good-night to it.

Don't be a Sally. If it's really hard for you to wind the watch, have your wife wind it 👍
I’d like to agree, but she has her hands full of other ‘things’! 😉

I have a Speedy “Yemen” and sent it to Simon Freese to service it for the same reason a hard to wind crown.
He tested the watch said it was all OK and didn’t need servicing as they are all like that.
I am putting it up for sale BTW if anyone is interested.
Since you have less than 200 posts you won't be listing it on this forum.

"Mommy, mommy, my watch is just too hard too wind" .

"That's ok dear, we'll just sell it, we don't want any stress in your life"

I quite enjoy winding some of my other watches, it’s just my Speedy that I don’t - well not as much anyway!

Try to solve that issue by putting a tiny drop of Silicone oil on the winding stem after pulling the crown. Sometimes could help. From my perspective you're right with the crownguards to hinder winding the movement easily. Winding my Flightmaster and the 145.007 Chronostop is much easier and not just for them beeing vintage watches.

But if you like to know how hard life can be so look down the Food chain road to a 145.0040. Crown is rounded and fully overlaid by the case's crownguard.

Once experienced that you'll be happy to keep the Speedy 😁😁

My $.02 is to just add it to your routine in the morning. You'll be doing the same with your auto if you leave it on the dresser for a few days. Get up, look forward to it and you'll find you'll start to appreciate the action, the sound and watching the chrono kick into gear 👍

It’s nice to be nice but you wouldn’t know. And I’m not selling for the winding. It’s because I want a change.
And BTW I have an exemption.😜

Some of my Seamasters have similar casebacks, none of them cause me a problem. Even if it did I’d change the caseback

After admiring the Speedmaster range of watches for a long while I bought my Speedy new in 2014. As we all do, I loved it, but there was just something that wasn’t quite right.

Eventually i realised that I was used to autos - most of my Omegas are Seamasters which auto-wind. I find the crown guards obtrusive when winding.

So, I have a dilemma. Do I sell and buy a FOIS, or keep it and learn to love it (once wound and on my wrist it’s ‘oh yeah baby’”?

Additionally I have just purchased a Mitsukoshi dial (no hands) that I’m going to have built into one or other. Do I keep the Speedy standard and play with a FOIS or what?
Manual Wind are more interesting for me

I actually prefer manuals to automatics. And winding a manual is a small joy of a day...
Cheers

With just a little more goading you’ll not need an exemption!

I am sorry if I sound like a dick but seriously... $#$€$###... winding takes 20 seconds every other day. If this is a problem for a person I guess that person will face some serious challenges in other parts of life. I don’t enjoy wiping my beeehind after pooping but I have to. And I spend far more time doing that than winding my Speedy. Yet I do not complain.

Don’t be sorry, we all have opinions.

Nowhere was I complaining, I was just asking for peoples thoughts. I prefer a case without the crown guards. As to wiping ones arse, get a bidet 😉

Love winding my speedmasters

Feels like an event each morning. Giving it some more life.

Yes the pros are slightly harder to wind vs the CK cases but still, pleasant for me
