Hi. I'm new here having just unearthed my mum's watch. I'd love to know more about it and whether I should get it cleaned/serviced, and if so where/by whom. Also an estimate value is important I suppose ☺️

This belonged to my mum. It's been tucked away for YEARS. I'd love to learn as much about it as possible , particularly whether I should get it serviced (seems to be working perfectly) and if the face/glass can be cleaned up etc. Many thanks in anticipation

I can't tell you much, but here goes.

The movement is a caliber 23.4 15P (15 jewels) which was introduced by Omega in 1936 and the 4.8 million serial number gives a movement production date of approximately 1936+.
There were number of iterations of the caliber 23.4 so you can check under the balance wheel to see exactly which version it is.
The wire lug in 9 carat gold cushion case was made by Dennison Watch Case Company of Birmingham, the Sheffield Assay Office date stamp of M ties it to 1936.
The dial is original and to the style of the mid 1930s. It has nice even patination, standard Arabic numerals at the even hours and blued steel "Plume" style hands.
Condition is fair and I think it is completely original in all parts.
It's a pretty little watch and should be taken to a competent watchmaker for a proper service so that you can enjoy wearing it for years to come.

Cheers
Jim
