·HI guys,
Like I'm sure a lot of you - I'm really interested in the Space Race - JFK era...and of course, my speedmaster. I am trying to find an image a specific NASA memo regarding the Speedmaster selection. I found several mentions of a memorandum from ( I think ) Jim Ragan at Nasa dated March 19, 1965 “The results of operational evaluations by the astronauts show a unanimous preference for the Omega chronograph over the other two brands because of better accuracy, reliability, readability and ease of operation.”
It also suggested the inclusion of a rotating 24 hr bezel and luminous subdials. I have found references to the memo, but can't find a copy of online. ( Omega should finally make this, don't you think? Maybe a 12 hr bezel)
I was hoping to find a copy of the memo - but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Just lots of mentions. I figure this material is so well known to this forum taht someone must have seen it. Ideas?
Here's one of the references from Revolution Watch ( but there are others ). ( Quote Follows) : https://revolutionwatch.com/the-alaska-project-speedmasters-the-future-of-omegas-space-watch/

NASA, in the qualification document, dated March 19, 1965, wrote saying, “The results of operational evaluations by the astronauts show a unanimous preference for the Omega chronograph over the other two brands because of better accuracy, reliability, readability and ease of operation.”
The document then goes further to say, “The following modifications to the Omega Chronograph were suggested to improve its usefulness as a flight article:
Thanks!

- Addition of luminous markings to the elapsed time dials.”
