Im not classifying it as anything - Im saying it looks very atypical for a 171 serial S20217-4.
And my guess based on this would be that the dial and seconds hand have come from the same reference, but in a later serial range.
I could of course turn out to be wrong. 馃榾

Hi all,
I have the watch CafeRacer鈥檚 number 3 (H 18xxxxxx) has shown. Can anyone tell me if this is a rare UG polrouter reference? The case on my watch seems unpolished (razor shape) and has an acrylic domed crystal, bumper movement and signed crown. The dial under a loupe is similar to Rolex gilts ie Writing under the black lacquer not printed golden colour. I think the lume is Radium and the hands are the same as pictured with lume long lume triangles. The case back has a serial H 20217-4 and 18##### with UG shield.
I bought the watch a long time ago in Helsinki.

Any info would be great.

cheers,
M

I think we'd all enjoy seeing some pictures if that's possible.

H20217-4 is the reference rather than the serial. The serial is the 1'8xx'xxx number.

I personally think this particular reference is really attractive and interesting. I'm not sure I would go as far to say that it was rare but there do seem to be less examples with these triangular hands than the other 20217-4 references. I think this is because these are quite late and the bumper 20217 references were soon to be replaced with the microtor references.

Your point about the dial being a genuine gilt dial rather than printed is interesting. I had always thought that all Polerouters had printed dials. Is that something you've studied with a loupe? It would be fantastic if you could capture that in a photograph.

That watch looks A-OK to me (I mean the one posted by dsacks30), except maybe the hands have been relumed, which is not a big deal in my opinion. To me the lume plots on the dial look original. Nice watch. In today's value, the asking price is reasonable (but OMG I can't believe how much these have gone up in value in the past 15 years!).

Hi all,

resurrection from the depths......Would anyone on the forum be able to direct me to a watch maker within the U.K. / EU that could have a look at my 1957 UG polerouter: 18xxxxx serials (H-case). Which has just recently stopped.

Kind Regards,
Mike
