Hi from Sweden Seeking information on this 16mm buckle. Found it like this, and its marked whit Swedish import stamp. Not shore if the hangtag have anything to do whit the strap. Do any body know when this was produced and was it made for a special watch? Thx for your time
Except that I think the OP's buckle is an Omega product, while the other seller has some real products and some very high quality (and correct gold content) replicas. gatorcpa
That Omega symbol has the sharpest edges I've ever seen on a buckle. Those photos should probably go into some reference library as exemplars.
This is an 18k gold Omega buckle of the early 60's. To my knowledge these buckles and straps were generic for Omega 18k gold watches with 18 mm. lugs. It was delivered on demand extra-cost) otherwise one would get a gold-plated buckle.
Good morning Thx for your time and answers. Found it like this and thought i should save it for the right watch. The hangtag is marked like this. Have a great day.
This could mean that this tag actually is delivered with the ('an') original watch. Should think: Cal 564 Model 168.011 Movement 24297860 If that is true (only 'if' ) the original watch can be from approx '68
I belive that the tag is only there to make it look better, bought it from a old watchmaker that used to work at JP Brant In Sweden. And i think he put it on to make it look better for sale and more exklusive. Not shore tricky old man. Best
So you know the tag has nothing to do with the strap! As stated the tag might be delivered with a watch, but doesn't tell us anything on the buckle I go for the remarks of the previous Members concerning the buckle!
I dont know i only belive it cause i done business whit this old man before and he is 100% but he likes to be smart and knows how rare things sell. Thats why i dont belive the hangtag and the work on the buckle is handmade you can se on the photo that the Omega sign is put on by hand on the back of the buckle.
You mean the two rivets on the back of the buckle that holds the Omega symbol in place? That could explain the "kattfot" in between the rivets . Could the buckle have been made in Sweden? By some good jeweler? The "kattfot"symbol is nothing that you see on a original Omega buckle?
The kattfot is the Swedish offical stamp for gold so i belive produced for Omega in Switzerland. I belive the quality of the work means that this is not the usual buckle but for something extra. When gold imported officaly to Sweden and taxes payed it gets stamped whit the kattfot.
1968 would be close based on the reference and serial number. Maybe a year or two earlier. "BA" is Omega's code for 18K yellow gold. It is possible the original purchaser also purchased a bracelet and never used the band, or sold it back to dealer. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss, nor am I 100% certain it is real thing. But the clues line up well. gatorcpa
Well, first you must take it to dinner--wine and dine it.. These kind of buckles particularly love the red wines with Italian pasta. That should get you started.. Wait, I think I read the title wrong.
Yes it was probaly never sold and watchbuyer payed + for braclet. So the conclusion is mid 60s and for anybody that payed+ to yellow goldwatch so far. Thx for your time and efforts Best
