I agree with the sentiment that it is a lovely piece that in my eyes and opinion needs no restoration on dial, hands or case. What a wonderful piece. Congrats. All the best to you @JohnLy. 👍

Can they remove the corrosion without disturbing the Lume?

Short answer is no, not really. It would be difficult to polish the hands without disturbing the lume, so if anyone claims they can, I would take that with a grain of salt...

This video shows how solid gold hands are cleaned, polished, and relumed (this video is from Lititz Watch Technicum - Rolex school in the US):

I'm guessing that since yours are corroded, that they are pated hands, so in addition to removing the corrosion and polishing, they would likely have to be replated to fully repair them. The chances that someone could do all that without damaging the lume is pretty much zero...

Cheers, Al

I think that the whole dial and hand set shows very consistent aging and wear, and is very appealing overall. So it seems pointless to address the corrosion on the hands without doing the same for the dial markers, and honestly I don't think I would risk it. It could easily go wrong. Many shops are specializing in making old watches look new again, but some of us still appreciate an honest vintage watch.
