Hi!
For many years I have had this Omega 9 ct rose gold, 33 mm diameter, in my drawer, it was found in the 70s by my dad while digging in our garden. The clock runs somehow but needs an overhaul.

Movement: 17 jewels, Omega 420, 14239907
Year: 1954 (according to online tables)
Case back: waterresistant dustproof antimagnetic; Omega watch co, 171136, 9ct

I am absolutely not an expert, but I would like to know something more about this watch. And I would like to restore it. So here I got some questions for you:
1. Is it a particular model or we can say generically “gents dress watch”?
2. Someone told me it is a redial. Because I am learning I would like to know how can you tell it. Because “SWISS MADE” is missing? Font is not proper?
3. Omega logo is missing. Is it available as spare part? Or should I go for a complete original dial?
Any comment or other suggestion will be appreciated. Thank you!

That's a great story, and quite a fancy case. I think that 9K gold cases usually indicate that the watch was cased locally, not in Switzerland, so it's likely that there is no specific reference number, as you mentioned. I don't see a case-maker's mark inside the case-back or an import code on the movement. Do you mind mentioning what country you are in?

The tells for the repainted dial are the inconsistencies in the lettering for “OMEGA” and the inconsistent size/spacing of the minute track markers.

Nevertheless an interesting case. The movement looks serviceable. I’m not sure what to do about the dial. Maybe nothing — but your question about replacing the Omega logo is a good one. I reckon I would do that, if it’s possible.

Italy, north-east. According to my dad's tale 9 ct gold was very common among german-austrian tourists

Most 9 ct gold watches I've seen over the years came from GB. It seems that 9 ct was quite popular there. From England you can find even high grade watches as IWC or LeCoultre cased in 9 ct gold.
