Help buying a Seamaster 120

Hi there,
I’m new here and looking for a Seamaster 120. I’ve gone through some threads, but I’m still not sure what’s genuine and what’s fake. I’d really appreciate any help or advice.

I found a watch on Catawiki that looks good, except for the bracelet.

What are your thoughts about it?

It’s a genuine one.

With watches like this, their condition or rather, attractiveness can sometimes be a bit of a coin toss. A competent photo editor can make tires looking watches pop, or poor photos can make an attractively aged watch watch look flat.

Unless you can see it in person I’d ask for some pics in natural light. For sm120’s is if fake/genuine is an important question. Once you’ve confirmed genuine with original parts, you still have to decide if you find it attractive.

If I had to guess I’d say the bezel is worn and faded but nicely so and the dial will look better in person than in these pictures as they are washing it out.
It’s not a minter but at the right price it could be a nice watch.

Looks like the pip is mostly intact too, which can be hard to find.

Thanks to everyone for the quick assessment, the price is around €2,000. I’ll probably try my luck and buy it.

A poor one, head only, unserviced (but complete) around £1000-1200.
A very good one, with correct bracelet, fully serviced, say £2500-2800.
These are private sales. Dealers are more.

Condition is king, but bezels are extremely hard to find so do not buy a cheap one without a bezel hoping you’ll find one for a couple of hundred quid - you won’t.
Also, the correct bracelets are £350-550 on their own.

Be aware that the majority of seamaster 120’s for sale are fake. Finding a good one for around £2500 takes patience. If you want one quickly you’ll have to pay more.

@Davidt - Very good information here, thank you

Ive been buying and selling vintage watches for a while so Im aware of the perils and sadly the franken watches have only got better over time as the watches demand more and more money

Im in no rush, selling a chunk of my watch collection at the moment and then I might go on the hunt because we're all addicts at heart.

I like this and the Seamaster Cosmic 2000 (with the rarer bracelet), so think I might end up buying one of the them down the road.

Es frustrante que los foros funcionen así, ¿hay alguna otra forma de contactarlo? Estoy realmente interesado en comprar el reloj.
