Hi all, I'm new-ish to vintage Omegas so appreciate any feedback you may have on this piece. From my research it seems to check out as legit. But, would love any expert opinions. It's on ebay, so I'm automatically put on alert. It looks like there may be some damage around the inside front of the case, and the caseback looks a but polished. They have it listed for $1200. Thanks all!
I've come to the conclusion that the average vintage watch on ebay is overpriced by at least 50% the market rate.
I don't see anything inherently wrong with it, it's just not in particularly good condition, especially at $1200.
I agree $1200 is very overpriced, despite the cool dial. I paid around that for my 1966 dogleg pie pan in very good original condition.
For $500, it would be a nice project for restoration. At $1200 - I would expect it to have been serviced by someone reputable.
Looks wrong to see lume on a linen dial for some reason. This one set me back +- the ask of the OP one (inclusive of a service) ... and it is mint as they come ( only reason it stays in the fold, still gives pleasure when it gets a spin).
$1200 is definitely too much. There are similar versions regularly on ebay for under $800. I note the earlier comment about ebay being overpriced by 50% and would like to agree, but it is sometimes very hard to find what you are looking for at the 'right' price. The fact is that ebay offers a reasonably wide choice of models from solid, trustworthy dealers - in amongst the dross, the untrustworthy and the just plain ignorant. I have been very happy with vintage watches from several established ebay dealers, but am aware that if I want to sell them again it would be hard to get all my money back. That is OK because I at least have them to enjoy, rather than hoping to find them at bargain prices.
