Hi all, I recently inherited this. It belonged to my Grandfather who served in the RAF. from my limited research it appears to be a very rare and valuable item.
Does anyone know what kind of value we’d be looking at? Apologies for the lack of info I will do my best to answer any questions.
Tony

Lovely chronograph and heirloom. The RAF did issue some Lemania chronographs, but this particular one appears to be a civilian version. A realistic market value would be in the general neighborhood of £2000 IMO.

Thank you, it is very pretty to look at, I’ve just taken the case off to have a look. In your opinion is it best I buy a strap, clean it up and then sell it? Where is best place to sell it?

Plenty of people, me included, will say “are you sure you want to sell an heirloom piece, think twice about it”.

However, if you’ve decided to sell, I’d list on eBay with plenty of high quality pictures from all angles, ideally including the caseback and movement if you can get a watchmaker to remove the back.

Don’t service it or spend money on a strap. It’s collectors who will pay the best money for these and they want their own watchmaker to service it to their own instructions.

Guess that straps and service its not a good investment.
Belive ebay is expensive and since uk is not eu any moore i think to sell it private is how u get most money out of it.
I altso would like to say that a resonable price in this condition is aprox 4 euro and there are plenty of buyers in uk for this watch.

The problem is the OP is an unknown seller so any private sale would leave concerns over security of sale. eBay gets around these issues and IMO is the best balance between maximising final sale price, security for both buyer and seller, and convenience.

I’d have to agree. Although I would be willing to go out of my way to assure any prospective buyer.

Thank you all for the advice. I’ve really enjoyed researching this watch. Fortunately my Grandfather left me two watches, one to sell and one to keep, otherwise I would have kept this one too. I have listed it on EBay and already have some interest which is great. I tried to post it on this site but it said I must have 200 posts first.

Hmmm. Elaborate eBay a promotion or genuine inquiry, I wonder?

Considering this time yesterday I’d never heard of Lemania, this genuine enquiry had been worth it’s weight in Gold thanks to all those that have helped and commented.

Would be nice if there was some well lit in focus pictures. The background is in focus. Nobody cares about the background.

It would help a lot if the pics were focused. Except for the last one most are blurry.

Apologies but I’m not a photographer that’s the best I can do with my phone

Fantastic looking watch, but the for the small size I think I'd have already hit the BIN button.
