Hi, I am new to this forum and I am looking forward to interesting discussions and news all around the world of watches. I am 34 years old and I live in the beautiful city of Bern, Switzerland. A fascinating and watch related fact about my hometown is, that the clock in the clock tower of Bern is now ticking for more than 600 years. It's difference in time is only 2.1 seconds within 100 million years, making the difference during the last 600 years 12.6 millionth of a second.... That's what I call premium quality... I hope this answers the question why I am fascinated by mechanical watches ;0) Best Regards from Bern, timeisyours
Hello timeisyours, Welcome to OF, i am also quite "new"... I am from CH as well, Geneva, and proud to be Swiss
I wonder how much WD40 the maintenance workers use annually on that clock? So timeisyours - are your kijiji cream filled or glazed?
Welcome to the forum. We split our year between the Bergell and the UK so get the best of both worlds.
Greetings! Pretty sure the clock was built 300 years ago... and it's not continuous since then. If it's that accurate now it's a cesium clock, and not fully mechanical. Still really cool 600 year old history on it.
A welcome to you @timeisyours from someone who held Swiss residency over many years, happy memories of village wine tasting, bread making, cycling etc. etc.
