Omega told me they were moving across the way next to the Rolex place, that should be interesting.

Any idea when they are making the move? I enjoyed looking at everything they had in there, lots to see!

@Walrus Thanks! I am new to NJ, actually to the US as well, so I didn't know about those arbitrage opportunities in car sales across states line. Interesting!

I need to visit CT, never being, just went to upstate NY a few times.

What do you have in your collection?
Wow new to the US. I have a lot of respect for people who come here from other countries, establish themselves and do well. My wife is one of them she came here with a scholarship and 1,000 bucks in her pocket, earned another scholarship from an IVY league college for her masters and worked towards her doctorate. People who do that stuff are just next level to me. I’m pretty sure I could not do that. The risk and dedication and leaving every single thing you are familiar with be hind seems so foreign to me but now probably half my friends and acquaintances are people who have done just that. And they still say it was their dream to come to the US since they were children and they are so proud they gained citizenship. Frig I don’t know I was born here I don’t see many dream like qualities in the US but they are happy that’s the main thing. I hope you are acclimating well and enjoying your time here. Hats off to you for making a courage’s journey.
I’m still pretty much a noob collector really like seikos and omega but appreciate any nice looking well made watch. Right now I’m wearing my mundane speedy automatic and I came home today and I had a Amazon package at my door which contained another elcheapo watch box as I have filled three with various tellers of time, have numerous single “manufacturers” boxes and I still have 10 or so watches that I am forced find creative storage solutions. I don’t remember buying this many but obviously they are not reproducing on there own. I am still missing one watch box my wife hid when we were having work done inside the house. She “didn’t want them to get stolen” but they might as well have as it’s like a half a year and she is still saying “I’ll remember soon”. Well anyway welcome, and for good measure I shot of my mundane speedy and my new 18.95 high quality watch box that arrived today. Genuine plastic and pleather. I don’t mess around.

Newish... I moved here in 2017 for grad school, met my wife in our first class and the rest is history.... Really like living here, watch prices are at least 20% cheaper than my home country haha... But sometimes is hard... miss my family, with all this pandemic thing could not see them for a long time, but I don't think I would go back.

Your Speedy is beautiful, such a classic piece! And I liked the box as well, just need to find a cool place to put it, and of course, find the missing one!

Ha ha that there is the third one I got from Amazon. The other two are full and now I only have three spaces left in this new one but at least everything has a place for the moment. I think it would make more sense to but better quality ones but these seem to hold up fine. Yes covid was really tough for people with family in other countries it was tough enough for us natives with family in other states. But I think you will find this forum can be a good outlet sharing pictures and discussing collecting it’s a nice break from the real world. So enjoy yourself, forget the serious stuff and just be a watch geek. Be careful of the Bitcoin thread, the pet thread and any thread mentioning the Beatles. There is a really weird guy running around those threads who’s screen name is related to that song “I am the Walrus” and he thinks he is the 3,782nd beatle, we just let him do his thing he is probably harmless but I wouldn’t want to run into him in a dark alley.

Welcome! All watches are welcome- even if they reside in New Jersey 😉.
Everyone knows that New Jersey is actually a territory that is shared by the State of New York (northern NJ) and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (southern NJ). We annexed NJ a long time ago because of its great beaches and gambling establishments. They also have great Italian food in Trenton and Newark. 😀

And New Jersey surplussed Delaware…what does that say 😗

To those of us south of the Mason-Dixon, Delaware is the on-ramp to the Jersey Turnpike.

@Kronos88 what country are you from?

@Walrus How do you like those watch boxes from Amazon? I was looking at some myself. I like the Speedmaster, it’s different that what I would think one would be and I dig that.

Cool, if you would like to watch a Brazilian movie, I would recommend Elite Squad, both 1 and 2. I think it is available on prime video

i never watched this classic Bond one, need to put on my list

You can watch it for free on the Pluto Tv app or website. Looks like elite squad is on there too. Thanks for the recommendation.

Gotta be honest the cheap Amazon watch boxes are fine for me. I do have a couple quality ones but they only hold 2 and three. I keep telling myself I should get a decent one but these are pretty compact and an easy way to tuck away 12-24 or whatever watches. It’s not like I live in a high crime area but if someone does steal them I want them to have to put in some work. There is a thread in the forum, a few actually that deals with how people store watches do a search sometime as some people have amazing set ups. When I say amazing I mean amazing. So the Amazon cheapos to the job they were built to do without issue.
