So I just bought this on eBay (probably overpaid a little but compared to my Speedy habit it was cheap as chips) because it just looks so damn nice. It runs pretty well but I can’t find any useful insights on the piece. It’s on a PUW 1361 movement and the vendor said it’s from the 60’s which seems plausible. The bezel action feels bad (sticky, no ratchet clicking) and hard to tell if it’s unidirectional (as per a proper diver obviously) as it will rotate clockwise but very stiff and rough. The crown has 3 stars in a row. The back looks like this: Anyway, it’s a nice everyday watch but I’d love to learn more about it if anyone knows something or can direct me to a source.
My Helbros, “Invincible” The Skin Diver, all SS case. I had to add hands, so not as cool as the originals. Competed with Zodiac in 1960’s alot sold through Px’s, like the Zodiacs.
Enjoy your Helbros, very fun watch. I think yours should have the same "big" crown as my manual-winding version. As mentioned by @TexOmega, supposedly these were sold in the PX during the Vietnam war era. They are cheap, but decent quality and obviously attractive "skin divers".
Thanks. Just love their dials with the 6, 9 and 12 numerals. Helbros seem to have been all over the place, West Germany, France and Switzerland. Shame it’s hard to find historic data on them. Agree the crown on mine looks wrong.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but anyone know of a lead for a OEM bezel insert for one of these Invincibles? Came across one at a decent price but the bezel numerals are worn almost completely away.
