Can you give me some information about my Omega? Model, year etc..
I know there is some information inside, but it works fine and I am afraid to open it.
It was a gift from my mother to my father and thats all i know about it.

Almost all the information you need will be evident when you take it to a competent jeweler or watchmaker to remove the case back. Movement caliber, case reference, case material (gold capped I think?). Also, the bracelet clasp markings should be helpful. More photos, please! It's a very nice heirloom, probably from the late '60s. I suspect it's a cal. 564, but I'm not 100% sure.

Your father evidently didn't wear it much!

    Looks like a ref 168.0053, cal 1001.

    Probably not an Omega bracelet.

It appears to be solid gold from the hallmarks on the back. If you do get it open I would be very careful doing do because it's in great condition.

Not a fan of the strap and neither is my daughter but the watch is a stunner. That piece deserves a service and a lovely leather strap. It always amazes me what lies around for years only to surface in stunning condition.

    Thank you :)
My father only used the watch on special occasions and I have never used it since I inherited it.
Should I have it serviced or is it okay to just keep it in my safe for another decade? :p
    Why does it need service?

I actually think my mother had the bracelet replaced because she didnt like the original one, so youre probably right about that.

If you plan on wearing it, you should service it. Otherwise it can sit unused.

    Nice heirloom!
