Have you ever purchased the same watch but in a different color?

I love my new Seamaster that has a Blue dial. I lost interest in my Tag Heuer Diver watch that has a black dial. Main reason is it feels like a Ford vehicle vs the Omega which is like a BMW.
So I'm thinking about giving my son the Tag and buy the same Seamaster watch in black. I could go for the Planet Ocean instead but it's a heavier, bigger, and more expensive watch. Maybe a used Planet Ocean? My wrist is not that large so this is the reason for leaning towards the same watch in black.

    Ummm

Many of these have now moved on, and a Great White added but you asked the question...

Definitely! I've had three different colour POs so far. Black, blue and now the grey dial Seamasters. If I could afford it I'd be having an additional blue or black dial 2018 seamaster - but sensibly I know I'm going to have to trade it versus add.

It's great to have choice in dial colour.

    Nope.

Why limit yourself to the same model (even if it is a different color) when there are so many other interesting watches out there?

    Yes.
I got the black dialed GP 4945 from a OF member and liked it so much I started looking for a eggshell dial. Found one in UK its the next model along GP4946.
Imho perfect balance of case 38mm and dial.Very vintage vibe from year 1999/2000.
The GP straps are just excellent as well.

No. I’d rather save the money and get a different model. However, I’ll be lying if I said I’ve never thought about it.

No, but I have two modern speedmasters (1861) and quite a few seiko (7s26) duplicates...173 and 007, 009. Some on steel, some on nato.

    Have fun

i've been tempted in rolex 1803's, but prices are up 50% or so in last 5 years so i can't afford additional dial colors.

The real question is: would you buy another of the same watch if only the sweep second hand was different?

in your case I’d get a black PO used, maybe, if you think it’s too big, a 39.5. Alternatively if you’re in love with the smp300 I’d get the black non wave dial which is a beautiful watch, and will have some distinct differences from the blue wave dial in style. Personally I like the blue on wave and the black non wave so I’m bias ( I owned the black for a couple of years)

Thank you. The black dial is work of art. At different light angles the sub dials are slightly grey contrast.
GP dials and cases afaik made "in house" are excellent.

These three are very similar with different “colors”...

I have also tossed around the idea of getting a polar to go with my Exp II... haven’t done it yet, maybe someday.
