Have we finally gone over the edge?

I liked checking the date to see how many years ago this thread started.

History does repeat. It is a spriral rather than a circle. Every few years I get interested in Herculanium/Pompeii documentaries. (I want to learn more about Nero's rotating clockwork ceiling that mapped the heavens. Or if there has been more work at the House of the paperi.)

What they did find recently was a painting of what looks like pizza (although made with fruit.) And that it really happened in October because the pomegranates were ripe.

Then there is Campo Fleigi Who had the idea to build Naples in the collapsed caldera of an active volcano? They can hardly do archeology as the entire edge of the bay of Naples is one mega city. Too many people want the good life. Just ask the people of Rhodes. Or the people of Santorini (which some think gave rise to the legend of Atlantis.)

When I was born there were 2 Billion people. Now there are 8 Billion. That means there are 6 billion people younger than me alive right now.

Yes, I am on large vessels almost daily and there is literature from posters on walls in stair wells to magazines about the hundreds of shipping fires, capsized cargo vessels and sinking bulk carriers.
Stuff goes wrong in the shipping industry a lot more than you think. The fact there is usually only 16 lowly paid foreign crew on board is why you never hear much.

(there is one poster for WHS I see a bit about all the sinking in just one year that has about 20 images on it)
