I was referring to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, not the commonwealth, and it was the peoples of all of these nations of the UK who went off and robbed what ever they could from the rest of the world, although I suspect we non english, are happy to let everyone else think it was only the English. ( My post was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek, although I don’t think non english people want to be associated with the English. I was born and raised in Wales, my dad is English and my mum Scottish, but if people say I am half english half Scottish they get told to F#ck right off. I am welsh and thats it.)

Your writing accent sounds half English half Scottish.

Okay, but what watch is she wearing?

If she held on to her WW II military issue, it could be worth a pretty penny today 😉

If it's the kings and queens that are the problem, why isn't the United States doing better?

I think she has a few heirlooms to fall back on. When Handel composes music specifically just for a clock I imagine it is worth a bob or two ;0)
.
1740 organ clock that plays music by Handel, and houses a rock crystal casket that contains the bible owned by Gordon of Khartoum.

Agree with that but even in democracies (speaking on my view on my own) have the same issue even when power is spread out amongst different branches. Correct me if I’m wrong but the UK monarch does not hold much true political power my English friends in the US seem to dislike the monarchy due to the cost to the taxpayers. I did read once how much each UK resident kicks in to keep the royal family living good It does seem a bit costly but its such a large part of UK history. That’s up to the people of the Uk though I have no dog in this fight maybe I’ll kick it up a notch and become a full time royal watcher the drama with prince Harry (that’s the one who stepped down right and sat on the far side at the cathedral away from those in direct line) is pretty exciting.

Because they use the same system that kings and queens "invented"!!

Having the same job for 70 years without a single promotion does not strike me as particularly impressive.

Being an American I’m much detached from the king and queen thing but being a bit of a history buff I have always found it fascinating. I also don’t like commenting much on other countries system of government as it’s difficult enough to fully grasp the political system of your own country but I do enjoy a good book about the British Empire and the past kings and queens. England is impressive not many countries they did not invade throughout history.
My wife likes watching the queens ceremony and I’ll admit I do sit down and watch it with her. So many centuries of history involved in them. And this queen oh my goodness all she has lived through. I think the general attitude towards her in the US is quite positive. She’s kinda hard not to like.
I like that Netflix series about her although I’m sure it’s dramatized. She is to the monarch what Bob Dylan is to music (holy cow did I just say that?)
I think England has something to be proud of in her although I have a few boxing friends from England who are very anti monarch due to the financial thing but I’m not hip to that scene.
If it were not for covid my wife and I would have been to Scotland and England. We were planning the trip a few months prior to the virus hitting the news although we had heard some rumblings. Buckingham palace was on the list. I’m a sucker for castles and knights in shining armor. Scotland, England and Israel. If I can visit them and perhaps a little more of the orient I think I’d be content with travel outside of the US.
So many more your majesty and who knows maybe we can plan that trip in the near future.
Do you think @Maddog would give me ride on the downlow as airfare a bit crazy now.
You should definitely come to London (and try and take in any of Oxford, Cambridge, Bath, Snowdonia, the Lake District, the Highlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow on a Uk trip). Take the high speed train to Paris, Amsterdam or Brussels as well. And you mentioned boxing - London has a vibrant boxing scene.

Well I’m aware of the other territories did mention the empire but she seems to stay mostly in England these days but if I really did piss off 3/4 of the UK population I would like to apologize to each person individually please DM me so I can start like I said I’m American I’m a bit out of touch with the whole monarch thing. So Australia, Canada, and all the others my bad man.
You didn’t, only about a twentieth to a tenth of it.
