Happy new owner of a Bell-Matic 4006-6010 (or three)

Late last year I stumbled upon a 4006-6010 (or maybe 6011?) on eBay and fell in love with the reference. There are plenty of other cool Bell-Matic references, but the combination of the C-shape brushed case, shiny linen dial, elegant hands, and unusual lumed indices really got me hooked. The cool bracelet would be a nice bonus if I could get it for a good price. So the hunt was on.

This was the first reference of any brand that I really set out to find (except maybe my Connie, but even then I had a few references in mind). I forced myself to be patient for months. I was the underbidder several times.

My patience finally faltered last month, and I took a gamble on a black-dialed watch that I knew would be a project. It turned out to be in worse shape than advertised, and I almost returned it but settled for a partial refund. The dial is really bad, and I'm pretty disappointed, but I know another will come up for a good price eventually. I'd like to try cleaning and oiling the movements myself, so this one can be my test subject.


While I was still waiting on that one, I bid on a gold-tone one with a decent case, which isn't common, and a bracelet. I ended up winning it for pretty cheap. I figured if I didn't wear it, I could use the movement as a donor and maybe even strip the bracelet to match the stainless case of the first watch. This one turned out to be better than advertised, though. On the bracelet, it reminds me of C3PO, which is cool, though I don't know if I can pull it off in public. It looks great on a strap, though. It's still a bit of a project, but a manageable one for me.


While I was waiting on those to arrive, I thought, I've already got two, it sure would be cool to have one of each dial variation (I've seen 5 so far?). So I threw a low-ball offer at an overpriced one with a bracelet, and the seller came back with a very reasonable counter which I happily accepted. It arrived today, and I'm thrilled with it. This was the dial variation (the most common, maybe) I had set out to find originally. I had to clean up a lot of wrist cheese and Jordanian dirt from it, but it's in overall great condition.


Now the hunt continues for good condition black dials in stainless and gold-tone (I can do without the blue dial for now). 😀

Here's the newest addition to the family. Fresh in today from eBay with incorrect hands, alarm wheel, and case back. I'm not too bothered by the case back, and correct replacement hands and alarm wheel are already sitting on my table waiting for me to get around to it. I also got a new crown, but these gold toned crowns seem to wear out so much, I figure, what's the rush to start destroying the new one?

@Olhenry56 - Very nice. I am still on the lookout for a black dial 6010 w/ that bracelet style (I am calling "Bear Claw").... I have 2 blue and one black/gilt version, the two with bracelets are the chiclet type...

@squaretail - I love the 7080T dial with the vertical brushed finish. Very sharp. That looks like perhaps an original / later 7002 bracelet - do you have a photo of the back side - are the end links marked with a model number?

Thanks! I joined a while back - after Seiko I think I have spent the next largest sum on Omegas - but whereas I have 100+ Seikos, I only have 8 Omegas so far.

Here is mine. It went through some tough times too. The date setting was stuffed and the alarm ring adjuster (the wheel that moves the chapter ring) was completely poo.

I needed a donor and got her up and running again.
