(Happy Ending!) I did not realize my Apollo 50th Steel payment was non-refundable at an OB.

The OP got his money back....Getting in touch with Attorneys General and contacting Switzerland is a little overkill. I'm sure this man has more to do with his time.

If they did it to him they'd do it to someone else....

Sorry about that Tom, I'm speaking for the OP, and have absolutely no right to do that. The OB made the situation right and he got his money back, that's my point....The right fighter in you appears to be like a dog chasing his own tail, what do you expect the government or Omega to do, exactly? Nothing! Wasted time on anyone's part who were to pursue this any further. (Wondering as I type, why I'm wasting my time on a poster coming off as a tattle tail). I'm out....

To close this out (hopefully) and clear up any misconceptions.

Did end up falling in love seeing it in person. It is so hard to remember that online vs. on the wrist are so different.

I’m in the midst of preparing for a cross country move so everything seems super stressful and like the wrong time to spend. Buyers pre-remorse? Waiting months for something reading about things obsessively don’t add up to a balanced view for me.

Anyway, thrilled with the piece and the service from Omega. Sometimes this passion can drift into stress and it really shouldn’t I guess that is what I have learned. Deal with confidence- at the end of day Omega wants happy customers there team are awesome and I didn’t feel like I HAD to take the watch tonight they would have ironed things out if I was not 100% happy.

Thanks to the KOP team and the forum for the support. Drama episode over

Nasty bastard actually, you're just proving me right.

This must be a new low for the forum, personal abuse for selling a watch, how dare I sell my own property.

Glad it worked out, there could also be an issue where the OB reports it as Sold in their system, maybe fills out warranty cards, registers the watch, and then has to get some form of Omega approval to un-do all of that. Could also be that by marking it sold, it allows them to get another shipped to them to sell. I wouldn't be shocked if it was a "the computer doesn't allow us to... yadda yadda" situation. Something similar happens with selling New cars, even if there's some reason that the customer doesn't take the car after doing everything and the dealer closing out the sale, the OEM system might not allow for it to be changed to "New" and the dealer needs to set it as Used.

There is non of that. They can't close out a sale unless he physically has posession of the watch. They should not fill out any warranty cards until the sale is finalized. The sales associate was just making him feel guilty because he wanted the sale. Omega doesn't have any electronic registering of any kind.

All my deposits at OB's have always been refundable.

Also, depending on your state, non-refundable deposits are not legal (unless you're sending your money outside the US and commissioning a rare/limited watch).

All deposits, with the exception of special commissions, should be refundable irrespective of where you are. How can you commit to purchasing a watch until you are certain that it is right for you, in effect by placing a deposit you are expressing serious interest in the item but you still want to try it and see how it looks on your wrist.

I wouldn't place a deposit on a watch unless I was satisfied that the deposit was totally refundable, with lead in times for a watch now so long our tastes and wants change, I have a white dial Seamaster on order for November but my enthusiasm has waned and I will probably pass on the watch, my AD has confirmed that this is not an issue and will refund my deposit if I choose not to buy.
