Hannams Ed White. £15K. Brown dial & bezel?

The below Ed White hammered today at GBP 12K so about £15k after fees.
Initial photos of the listing showed an attractive dial and lume. Additional photos the lume doesn’t look so great but the dial and bezel appear brown.
Any thoughts on whether this is a brown one or just in the photo?
Hopefully the new owner gets a fantastic watch and we get to see some decent photos of it here 😀

White balance in both photos seems off. Top one seems blueish and bottom seems overly warm. Hard to be sure without knowing the true color of the background. But I suspect neither photo represents how it will look in natural light.

Humm.
Has a later chrono hand and an earlier dial.

its the bad lighting in the photos - especially the second series is lit by a "warm" light source.

IMO neither the dial nor the bezel are brown.
This watch was interesting due to the 2998-1 (-2) dial. I took a punt on it but backed out at 11K (13K would have been too much for me...)

Well if it helps Ill give the buyer 10% profit right now based on those photos

Yes, the dial alone is worth a lot 👍.

I loved the auctioneer's estimate - £1,000-1,500, even with pre-auction bidding at £8k. LOL.

When I rule the world, I will institute that auctioneers can only charge commission on the high estimate or the hammer price, whichever is lower.

You do know that that charge more for achieving overestimate?

Really? I've only sold through a few auctioneers who had pretty realistic estimates so there was never any mention of that.

I've also bought from Hannams previously and

a) their descriptions and photos were rubbish
b) they didn't offer any sort of postage / packaging
c) their estimates on the watches I've bought have been ridiculous

I was watching this auction (but spent my wad on the other "controversial" auction straight lug), so thankfully resisted temptation. Pretty expensive parts watch, but obviously the dial is everything and if the buyer already has a correct 2998 waiting for a dial match, hard to do much better than this (particularly if it's brown). I'm not quite ready to rule out that the dial actually is brown to a degree...
