Didn't get it but went to the boutique to look at it. I really like it. The lower part of the running seconds subdial looks like a dark brown to me.
Nice pics! I want to love it, but it looks pretty plasticky to my eye, which would be fine @ $5k, but at @ $9k it's a nope for me.

At least give me a story to cling to for that price, like it's double super secret shock resistant or something!

If you are talking about the dial, I really like the texture on this thing. Can't wait to see it in person but I kind of see what you're saying

To me the dial looks like rhinoliner for pickup trucks. So does the black dial 3861. But you have to really zoom in to tell.

I see it. Personally it reminds me of the texture sometimes present on military hardware like optics. I'm specifically thinking of the PK and PSOP Russian military optics when I say this. Once upon a time I owned an AK-74 with a PKA, and there's something about this dial that is instantly reminiscent of rugged military hardware to me. I see how someone could see it his truck bed liner though.

To me the rugged milspec look is a plus.

I didn't mean to imply that I don't like it, it looks good, just surprising that it's textured like that.

No worries, I didn't read your comment that way at all. Omega definitely likes playing with textured dials, from fumé to sandblast to waves... seems to be a design direction choice (the new FOIS plays with dial expectations as well I'd day)

If it looks metallic / poweder-coated in person I'd be in, but from all the pics I've seen it looks like ABS plastic

Agreed, definitely one I need to see in person

I liked it better in person. It really is a nice watch. The all brushed finish fits the tool watch character perfectly.

Yes I see what you mean. Combined with the very ledigible coloured and tooly handset, that looks like they have been cut out of plastic with sissors, it does not look like a 9k watch. Give the hands some borders, lume, bewels or what ever, just make it look like it has been put some work and thought into them.

Plastics are a far superior material in many applications, like watches. They are light, strong, corrotion resistant, but just looks cheap and "plasticky". It used to be a material problem back in the day, but now its a image problem. Plastics have inherited their ancestors low quality image.

An exception to this was fiber reinfored plastics like kevlar. They had that high tech, space and performance image, until the look was sold on a roll of tape and was applied everywhere, making it look cheap again.

There's carbon fiber, and carbon fibber.

Yeah, I'd love to see it in person. BUT, a coincidental update: completely unrelated, I came across another aviation inspired watch with the same dial!

I found this review:
The star of the show, for me anyway, is the dial. Nodus has decided on three dial variations for the Contrail GMT, representing our great lands and skies. The variation I’ve had the privilege to check out, the Terra, is a returning fan favourite, and I can see why. The black sand-grain texture is stunning and well-executed, and when paired with the polished applied indices and hands, the dial is a work of art. I often stared at it and lost myself in the textured details.
So, I dunno, maybe it's a thing? Maybe an aviation thing? Maybe in person these look fantastic? If it is great in person, pics aren't doing it justice
