Hands look iffy? Need advice please

Hello everyone,
I hope you’re well.
I’ve owned several speedies in the past, mostly modern and a couple semi-vintage.
I fancied dabbling in something considerably older and came across what looks like a ‘Pre-moon’ variant.
I’m by no means an expert, but the hands on this one clearly do not look like ‘Speedmaster’ hands. They look like vintage Seiko hands to me?

1. Is it that there were some pre-moon speedmasters fitted with such ‘Flat tipped’ hour and minute hands and a second hand that is very plain?

2. Is this even a pre-moon speedmaster? Due to the ‘shallow’ caseback engraving I assumed it was. I did wind the movement and it felt and sounded like a Speedy.

Unfortunately, open case back with serial/ model designations could not be provided by the seller.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kindest regards
Al

The are certainly wrong.

It has a pre moon caseback and step dial with painted logo so I assume it’s either a -69 or -71. Unfortunately the bezel isn’t original as it’s a modern service replacement.

Given the above I’d insist on a movement and inside caseback picture before going any further to make sure it’s just the hands and bezel that have been changed. Even then, that’s not really an attractive dial so it should be quite cheap.

Incidentally, how does a Speedmaster sound?!?!

It’s sorta like a clickety-clickety-clickety sound.

Enough reason to walk away IMO. (nothwithstanding the gross lume and hands)

Definately has a lovely crunchy, clickety click ring to my ears!😎

Hmm, possibly one to walk away from unless I go on the hunt for the correct hands etc…
