I saw that ... "indifference to running." Seems like just yesterday she was a baby, and now retired. TBH, sometimes she seemed pretty lackadaisical compared to the previous two Ralphies. Apparently, she will live out her life in a secret location with other retired and current Ralphies.

These were pretty big 20 years ago, but I don't think they were very good, TBH. Sort of a gimmick. I don't see it very much anymore, except from Ted Turner.

The interesting part or the story is the secrecy of the location of all the Ralphies, which goes back to a prank perpetrated by fans from a rival, who painted her with their school's initials.

Used to go to Dolphins games with a guy who was a general manager at a local hotel. When the Buffalo Bills came down, he’d get an extra ticket for the hotel’s chef who would make Bison Burgers for our tailgate.

One of the best tasting burgers ever, but the meat has to be properly seasoned and marinated. Otherwise, they are very lean and dry.

You fill up quickly.

I made buffalo burgers just this past weekend. Since they are so lean I won't grill them, I melt a tablespoon of butter in one of my cast iron skillets, then quickly sear each side of the patty, before reducing the heat and letting them slowly cook over a medium low heat to a medium finish. I also usually grill some onions on the side of the pan while the burgers cook. I only season with some salt and pepper, and a dash of worcestershire sauce. My tribe (and several others) have their own buffalo herds now, so bison is widely available here.

Well, waiting for New Year can be downtime and a half, so I couldn't help educating myself on this news - and, good grief, following on from Ralphie V was surely the impossible gig. Dear Blackout also looked pretty cute back when she had just begun, but by the time of her, er, reassignment (you don't "retire" at a peak like that unless you're Greta Garbo or Bjorn Borg) she was one helluva unit! Even by Ralphie standards, she had to be the most impressive mascot in world sport, and those handlers are no slouches neither. Good luck to VI (Ember) in retirement, and to the Buffs in recruiting a successor!

"Brandy" actually ran a few times this season, I saw her in-person at two games. She is still pretty small, relatively speaking, but very rambunctious ... and fast. 😀

Good to read. Often these high in the air buildings have restaurants with food quality that is so so. I’m surprised that there’s an empty table by the way, right at desk unless that’s where you were going to be sitting.

As a fellow UF Gator let’s hope they get to run one out on the courts in the final four 😀 this year. Love the Bison story. Amazing creatures that we all but obliterated. As a kid it was hard to learn about this and the passenger pigeon extinction.
