It's not a completely done deal, but it's 95% of the way there. Once it's signed, sealed and delivered the parts will be headed to Western Canada. Don't know any more than that.

what parts suppliers are in W. Canada? If I didn’t use Perrins. I bought from usually Jules Borel. Unless someone looking to continue the business

Swiss Watch Parts Distributors is in Vancouver. They may have bought the inventory when the Page & Wilson branch in Vancouver closed some years ago. (My supposition.) SWPD is the only like business in Western Canada of which I am aware that might be a possibility. Toronto Jewellers Supply Ltd. closed a number of years ago, so I doubt they are involved. I rely on Perrins, so I’ll be watching and listening, for sure! There are several other smaller distributors in Toronto (Parsa, Somal?), and there is a name or two out of Montreal, as well. But none of these have branches in western Canada.

someone said that TJS was selling out of his house years ago and I think it was his son that bought Dialcraft from Dietmar and is out in Markham

Swiss watch parts. Never heard of. Don't even have a site. They have one, but "Coming Soon" Can they even afford to buy up Perrins stock. That was Perrins problem. They didn't have a site really. Not like other suppliers. Jumped in too late

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT PERTAINING TO THE BUSINESS TRANSITION OF PERRIN SUPPLY

Effective July 1, 2024, H. & W. Perrin and Company will become Perrin Supply Ltd, with a new home and team.

We are extremely excited to announce the new team taking the torch from Ed and Maurice and to assure you that we will do our utmost to carry out the same level of service and delivery of high-quality products we’ve all benefitted from over the years. As beneficiaries of Perrin’s products for almost 65 years ourselves, we know the needs and challenges faced by the watch and jewellery industry and that reliable service and good value are musts to perform to the standard we all prize for our long-time customers. As a small independent jewellery family that has relied on Perrin to fulfill our own watch and jewellery repair services and jewellery manufacturing needs, we can assure you that we understand what it takes to compete and serve our client base effectively. We are eager to meet you all and to find out how we can best serve your unique needs.

And so, it is our great pleasure to introduce the new Perrin team and location.

Effective with the changeover of staff and location (July 1), you can continue to order in the very same ways you do now. The website and phone numbers will remain the same. Some email addresses will change but we will update you before July 1. The product lines will in large part remain the same, with new lines being introduced early in the Fall. We also ask for your feedback on new products you’d like to see available at Perrin.

Regarding our new location; Perrin Supply Ltd. will be moving to Vancouver, British Columbia. While we haven’t finalized the open hours yet, we will be open early to accommodate Eastern and Central Canada. Being on the West Coast, we can now also extend the shipping deadline which means even more timely service for day-to-day receipt of goods. We anticipate orders received by 5pm EST/2pm PST will typically still ship same day. We are working hard to secure the lowest possible shipping rates to ensure quick overnight and two-day options for the same or less than your current costs even if you are in Central and Eastern Canada. Customers in the West will see a significant reduction in shipping costs for all our goods. Stay tuned for more details about shipping rates and timelines. Local pickup will also be available.

Moving the operation will take some time, but you can continue to order online or by email and be assured your products will be shipped towards the end of the second week of July. We will release further contact information for any interim questions before the end of June and a more detailed ship date for orders received between June 30 and July 8.

Please look for more information to follow as the transfer of operations nears. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact Ed or Maurice.

We are eager to begin serving you soon and hope you will continue to support the Perrin tradition.

The new Perrin team.

Peter, Drew, Mark & Sacha

DON DON
But who bought it?

That message appears to be from someone who was a Perrin customer! I doubt SWPD would have been a Perrin customer!

What does SWPD stand for?

I'm guessing a large jewelry/watch store

Wonder if they asked Alex to join? He was the crystal guy at Perrins since I bought from them

SWPD is Swiss Watch Parts Distributors in Vancouver. They were mentioned earlier in this thread as to possibly having bought Perrin. Alex Browne is listed by Perrins as the go to guy for crystals in future. He’s in Toronto.

As @Canuck mentioned, sounds like a satisfied small business owner that saw an opportunity...

I've got a few ideas but I'll ask around locally first.

are you saying Alex is going out on his own to replace crystals?

can you make a living doing that?

only time I used Perrins for that was for the press in crystals. Squeeze type I did myself.

I don’t know the details as regards whether Alex is acquiring their entire crystal inventory and the custom cutting of crystals. I don’t have Perrins fit any custom cut crystal to the case I send. At one time I had them FIT the custom crystal until I started getting the job done, but with dirt and smudges inside the crystal. I carry a sizeable inventory of crystals including fancy glass crystals for antiques. I replenish my inventory from Perrin. May well be Alex will do it now. I don’t yet know.

I wonder if they are going to remove their bait stock now, after almost a year non-existent Omega crystals still appear in stock

Haven't looked at the site in quite a while, but maybe I should order two mainsprings for my Panerai just in case. 20 mile round trip or so

I'd appreciate if you can order a PZ 5022 crystal for me as well, maybe they told me its not in stock thinking I was an undercover Omega cop - they could be selling them to trusted oldtimers

I think calling it bait is a little but much.

I talked to them yesterday looking for some parts, and I ordered two springs that they told me they had in stock - they called back 15 minutes later telling me the stock drawer was empty when they went to get one of the springs, even though it showed as in stock in their internal system. When you have likely 100's of thousands of parts in stock, with some stock dating back 100 years, keeping it all up to date is a massive task, and the web site is low priority for them - always has been.

Such drama. Omega wouldn't care what they sell in terms of Omega parts...they can sell whatever they have left over from 2015...

It is clearly a bait as I spent quite a bit on the phone, asked them to update it, but they are all still there after a year or maybe more. If it was a matter of weeks, or whether just a singular model unstocked appearing stocked, maybe you could be right. I doubt they have any Omega crystals left, but google any crystal model and these guys have it all stocked

The scenario: Someone needing parts Google's the crystal numbers, orders parts he needs with the crystal, call or email comes indicating the crystal is not in stock but other parts can be shipped. Quite likely the person would go along with it and get the rest of the stuff. This way they can take business that would otherwise go to someone with actual stock. Quite unethical I think

I will ask, but they sell to everyone. I see no reason for them to hide them. They bought from Omega. They know I'm not a watchmaker, but had no problem buying

Will give them a call next week when the temps drop. Too hot out now?

Does this include tension ring color or need to mention

Just for your infor. If your not in Canada. Insured tracking is about $15.00 US Do you know the est. price? (13% tax on top)
