    Hello OF.

So I've found a nice group of local collectors to hang out with; we have caught up at least 4-5 times this year.

    I'm wondering if other GTG groups across the world do any themes for their GTG, say;

    1) Bring a dress, daily and weekend watch
    2) If you could only have 2 watches in your collection; which would it be?
    3) Military Watch only
    4) Diver only
    5) Modern vs Vintage comparison pieces, bring 1 modern and 1 vintage to compare

I know it sounds like alot to think about before a GTG, but i think instead of just "oooh aahhh, i want this i want that", Would it be a more invigorating session if we had themes for a GTG?

Eager to hear some ideas from everyone.

I think the cooler thing about GTGs is variety, I would never have bought my A386 if I hadn't seen one in Singapore at a GTG and I saw my first examples of many other rare and interesting pieces I didn't know much about there too, the broader the church the better imo.

Now making it a Hawaiian theme and having everyone turn up wearing floral shirts and flower necklaces on the other hand sounds like a great theme :)

Hawaiian theme with a proper floral shirt! Thanks for that!

Same; likewise I would never buy a gold watch (just screams Uncle to me); but after seeing and trying one on me; I had to get one.

My first one and my second one.

A great idea as opposed to the bar table with 100 high-end watches strewn about.

...OR...making it a military aviation theme and having everyone turn up wearing mil-spec CWU 36/P [or CWU 45/P] NOMEX flight jackets...at Hooters...on the other hand sounds like the greatest theme. :D

@ChuckMK23 pictured on the right...I’m not sure who the doofus is pictured on the left...

    Also...a Metallica t-shirt theme [at Hooters] is a proven winner...everybody likes a winner. :D

Drink as much alcohol as possible seems to be the main theme of the GTG's I attend.

To me GTGs are meant for sharing. If we agree on that, isn't imposing a topic a kind of restricting the opportunity for sharing?

For sure, GTG is always meant to be for sharing.

But I was thinking if there was a theme or some sorts; it would be even more fun/interesting to try to coordinate towards it.

Beer would be cool. So far, we only have had one at a bar. Lighting wasn't great.

Coffee cafes seems to be the best place to be at

On a more serious note  what might be helpful is a list of do's and don'ts from you GTG veterans for organizing a successful - and safe - GTG. Such as:

    1) organize your GTG location and date/time by private message/email (etc.) and not on the open forum, for safety
    2) contact your local Omega Boutique to see if they would be interested to host
    3) look up your local RedBar chapter to learn where their meetups are - I could imagine a local RedBar x OF GTG as a good time!

    Anyone else?
