GSOM or Speedmaster 57? Decided on watch...now help with straps!

    Afternoon all,

Long time reader, first time poster.....so go easy on me!!

I've got a dilemma!! I've had a Planet Ocean 2500 for the past 4 years, but now feel like I need a change, something that is going to age well and be a good "everyday" watch as well as something a bit special when needed. In other words....an all-rounder.

I've narrowed my choices down to the grey side of the moon or the speedmaster 57 in either the blue face or the titanium version.

I love both, that's the problem!!

I can see the versatility of either of the 57s, you can wear them with a bracelet, or with different straps, blue, tan, black, etc.

The GSOM is slightly less versatile.....no bracelet.

I'm used to the PO in terms of size, plus my wrist size is 7" so I don't think size is a major issue on either watch.

Any thoughts, advice, help would be greatly appreciated. I know I will be happy with both, but I dont want to wish that I had bought "the other one!".

    Cheers

    Mark

Grey Side any day! Look epic on and considering what it can be bought for today it's an easy choice!

    I vote grey side
Although I like the blue 57 a lot
Put the grey side on an omega nato last week and it is more versatile than I thought
Next stop, black leather with deployment

I'm coming down firmly on the side of the new broad arrow '57. Modern movement with the classic 2915 styling (almost).

I must be in the minority but the grey side does absolutely nothing for me.

The 57's are nice esp the blue dial but that GS looks fantastic on the wrist and out in natural light!

Any chance you could post a picture. Just deciding whether to order Blue Stingray strap or Ostrich for my GS but can't decide if they'll match or not.

A lot of love for the grey side......its really difficult getting to see one in the flesh! I've seen the DSOM, which was beautiful, just a little impractical for me.....too casual looking.

If you're based anywhere near Yorkshire you can have a look at mine.
Stick the DS on a Croc strap and it soon smartens up.

I'd have to say GSOM... I've wanted one ever since trying it on at the boutique...

'57 for me. More chances it will age with you and will not be broken. Its size suits your wrist better too. And it can be weared with a suit and with a t-shirt while GSOM is more on the dressy side.

I'm of a different opinion... I wear my Grey Side with everything from a Canali suit to shorts and T-shirt; it's an incredibly versatile watch. The Grey Side being ceramic is a big advantage, IMHO, given it will look the same in 50 years as it does not (i.e. it just won't scratch). This fear of ceramic getting "broken" is just irrational, assuming you make any effort at all to take care of your fine timepieces. If you need a beater, neither of these watches is for you.

I like both but the '57 IF its the new broad arrow one with imitation patina, otherwise I'd go the Greyside

I have to agree with Repo or I will be dead to him. But seriously I do like the gray side. I have seen so many pics from Super D and Repo but when I was in the boutique I saw that and I was like "Whoa the pics do not do that justice and Super D and Repo take good shots too. My vote is the Gray Side. Go Cavs!!

Go with the Greyside. The platinum dial is unmatched and does a thing when it catches the sunlight.
