Dear members, I am offering my unusual circa 1955 Gruen Veri-Thin with articulated lugs for sale. US $295 down from $325 plus shipping for this driver’s watch. Case is 10 k Gold Filled and in good condition. There are a few nicks on the lugs but these are barely visible, especially when fitted with the strap. Measurements illustrated in the photos. 17 Jewel manually wound movement keeps good time. I have not serviced it and history is unknown but when I bought it 2 years ago, for about my current asking price. it was fitted with this almost new strap. (Included). The crown winds extremely smoothly. Was there work done to the crown when the new strap was installed? Not sure since I bought it at auction. But at this price, I would not service it unless you wear it daily. Opening the case simply requires the operation of the hinge but I’d rather not mess with it. The crystal is like a pyramid, with four quadrants meeting in the center. I described it as a driver’s watch because even though it can be worn in the usual manner, it is possible to wear it at the base of your thumb, to see the dial while holding on to a steering wheel. This type of watch was recently discussed on the « curated 3 watch collection » thread by @Dan S @Canuck has the same watch but the crown on his is signed « Gruen » and he knows more about these than I do. I don’t recall seeing another except for Canuck’s. I have feedback on this forum - available on request. Will accept Paypal or e-transfer from Canadian buyer. I will discuss returns with the buyer if this is required to make things right. Thanks dear moderators for your work. . Update: Sold elsewhere.
If I didn’t already have this model Gruen, I’d jump on it! And surprisingly, considering the asking prices for decent watches almost everywhere, @Duracuir1 ‘s asking price is spectacularly within reason!
That may be true but I have heard about this artist on YouTube who makes amazing videos if you send him your watch.
