Hello everyone, I am on the edge of getting a Grey Side of the Moon (GSotM) in the next couple of days. I am between this and a blue Moonphase, a gorgeous timepiece as well, and will be seeing both in the local boutique and make the call on the spot.

I am asking the owners to maybe post some pics and share some of their experiences.. I have not seen this watch out in the daylight and I am not going to as the OB is in a Mall and cannot take the watches out.

The blue moonphase is an amazing watch with the complications and the gorgeous lacquered dial but the GSotM is so special that I am so intrigued to add it to my collection (have 3 Rolex, an Omega and Panerai)

Please share you thoughts and pics, have two days until I see them both side by side and leave with one of them, thank you so much!!

I own both. They are both amazing. The grey side is a bit more sporty, light weight with the ceramic. The lume on the grey side is amazing. The ceramic case is pretty special and the platinum dial sparkles in sun. The grey side will be less versatile matching different straps and it won’t really work on a bracelet. Some people don’t like ceramic because of fear of cracking it if dropped. The moonphase is a newer movement that is master chronometer metas certified. I would also classify the moonphase as a bit dressier, and you can put it on a bracelet.

Thank you so much for your input! I couldn’t care less for a bracelet as I have almost all my watches on bracelet, as I said looking for this special watch.. I am a sucker for lume as well lolol!!

I would go with the blue side because it really seems like something unique to me. Plus, that dial, wow! Is it lacquered or aventurine?

From the reviews it seems it’s lacquered but not sure to be honest. Thank you

I thought the OP was talking about the steel moonphase with the blue sunbrushed dial. The blue side of the moon has a blue ceramic case and is available with either aventurine or lacquered sunbrushed dial, there’s two models. The blue ceramic is a bit more distinctive and it’s usually a love it or hate it.

Indeed, I am after the steel blue moonphase, I don't like the ceramic moonphase at all... So blue steel moonphase VS the GSOTM, different watches but I can pick only one...

Can only speak for the GSotM, but I think it’s great. The dial is incredible, the platinum sandblast has a really subtle shimmer, and the whiteness of the lume (when it isn’t charged) on the hour markers and hands gives them an almost glowing appearance in contrast to the grey dial.

The weight difference from a steel 9300 is really noticeable on the wrist, the ceramic is obviously much lighter.

That said, the Blue Moonphase is a great looking watch too, I’m glad I wasn’t deciding between the two.

Forgot a photo. It’s already dark here so this is both indoor lighting, and my poor photography skills I’m afraid.

There are 3 case and dial versions of the "Blue Moonphase":
1. Blue moon phase in steel case. Pretty sure this is the one you're referring to.
2. Blue side of the Moon with ceramic dial.
3. Blue Side of the Moon with Adventurine dial.

All use the 9904 movement. Maybe worth checking out the BSotM in ceramic if the GSotM doesn't quite do it for you? I actually liked the GSotM more in photos (looks amazing). In person I preferred the BSotM for something quite different and it's been my daily for over 1.5 years. While the lumed bezel is a sight to behold my practical side preferred the LiquidMetal for longevity. All down to personal preference though.

Thank you for your comments and pictures gentlemen

I am not a fan of the BSotM as I own a ceramic Panerai that is totally blacked out so I don’t want something similar. It will be the GSotM or the steel blue moonphase. Tomorrow they will both arranged for me in the boutique for me and there is a nice offer running from the local dealer here so I want to take advantage of it. I was checking some GSotM watches in Chrono24 and some of them had the leather strap a bit worn out but the case looked 100% as new being ceramic. I like the idea that the watch will appear brand new even after 10/20 or even more years.. I am very careful with my watches so I believe there are minimum chances of banging the case around and break it

Have you seen them in person before? I suspect the lume of the grey side will push you in that direction.

I would get the steel variation then. The GSOTM kind of felt cheap to me, and even with the platinum dial just flies way to far under the radar for what it costs. This is of course just my opinion, but if you already have a ceramic watch that you're content with then get something more solid like the steel model. Either way, post pics tomorrow.

The ceramic Panerai I own is the one I liked more because of its reduced weight and I tried two before that (similar cases at 44mm) so I don’t mind the lightness of the case, in the contrary. Will see what happens tonight and surely going to post some nice pics tomorrow

I had the chance to spend some time with watches, it was my first time to see the GSotM in the flesh. The case is very impressive, shines like metal, truly amazing workmanship and technology.. dial on par with the case, I was really impressed by the timepiece.
I always liked the blue steel moonphase (black is nice as well), I always wanted to have the moonphase but the GSotM really blowed my mind away and is so special to own.. I have to wait for a couple of days (some boutique arrangements in place) and then I can have it, so excited now!!

Nice, always better to try them on and tastes are personal. I like how lighter watches wear so my preference is Ceramic and Titanium.

Which bracelet can you put the blue side of the moon on?
