Depends. I worry a great deal more about spending several thousand dollars more than I need to for something that I want.
If I were starting over, I would probably go for complete watches rather than 'parts' watches what cost more in the end than a good example would have cost in the first place. Penny wise, pound foolish is the expression that comes to mind.
If one has to worry over the cost, then watches probably are not a good thing to play with.

Obviously one can't generalize like this. There is nothing different or wrong about Japanese sellers in general. Many of them are totally legit. If you are risk averse and not satisfied with the research you have done about the seller, then you should just buy elsewhere. Our opinions won't help.
ok - Is there a difference between buying (a new watch) directly from Omega (via a boutique) and an Omega Authorized Dealer (i.e - a high end jewelry shop)?

In general: Boutiques are run by Omega (except a select few), so they typically have much less room to move on pricing. ADs are independent from Omega and can discount as much as they want to try and earn your business. And the quality of service will likely vary more between ADs than between boutiques.
