Yep. I was in a large local AD yesterday for their annual sale and one of the sales reps said that they sold about 80% of their high-priced stuff in the first hour of the online sale -- close to 500k's worth of merch. So someone's buying.

The sought-after Omega and IWC stuff, including the Seamaster, Seamaster AT and Speedmaster lines, notably, were excluded from the sale.

People with disposal income not able to holiday have dumped it into over forms of available retail therapy maybe?

You hit the nail on the head. Money that would have other wise been spent on travel, entertainment, dining out, etc. is being spent on luxury goods.

I bought a speedy during covid. A grail piece I was going to get years from now. But I got it now for personal reasons, but Covid was a bit part of the why.
