Has anyone else noticed the steady increase in grey market prices for the Speedmaster Professional since the end of last year? Back in November-December, Jomashop’s price was between $3,400-$3,500 for the hesalite version. As of today, the price is $3,975. Has there been a corresponding increase in Omega’s retail price? Not to my knowledge. Perhaps a combination of increased demand and less inventory available from ADs?

I doubt that there's less available, probably an increase in demand and grey market sellers recognizing that Omega will be blitzing the hell out of the moon landing anniversary.

I fully anticipate that the 1861/3 movement will be discontinued within a year in favor of the 3863 movement released in the gold 50th anniversary edition announced yesterday

Omega raised the Speedmaster retail price $100 in the January timeframe. At least they did here in the US. This is probably being passed to the greys as well. But the big jump like that, is strange. I have noticed as well.

This is normal, grey market prices rise and fall with market fluctuations and exchange rates.

I got my Speedy BNIB for 3.5 almost two years ago and its since gone up in price. I suspect we'll see a jump as Omega switches to the new coaxial version of the 1861.

My Speedy Pro was listed at £3,520 when I bought it in August last year. The UK RRP is now £3,680. Still a lot of watch for the money...

The OBs I visited recently both independently said the Moonwatch is hot because of the anniversary so they would not discount. They said they were happy to discount other watches.

Excuse for my partially OT question, but I'd like to know if it's possible for me to open a thread asking if a grey market seller - located in EU (like me) - seen on Chrono24 is reputable or not among you.

I mean, a topic where I can say the name of the seller's company for informations. Or is it against the forum rules?

    Thank you all.

I paid 3200 thru jomashop in November. They were also running special holiday prices if I remember correctly. Joma always has some sort of deal going on so I'd suggest waiting and watching for the next sale.

I've seen Speedmaster Professionals for sale here on OF by members that were competitively priced. I'd buy from a member on the forum versus some of the grey market online sites

    Everything has gone up

I've been doing some price analysis on rare but not very mainstream pieces.

For no reason what so ever, several large UK 2nd hand dealers are listing the same pieces with a 20% inflation vs 2 years ago.

These pieces are valuable, 5k+ GBP but not popular and not steel sports. Yet they are attracting the type of inflation you see on anything Rolex. They are certainly getting their pound of flesh with current shortage situation amongst other brands.

I paid $4160 at my AD for my Hesalite Speedmaster in July 2019 with full kit and all the cards, just got a 324.30.38.50.01.001 (list $5200?) For $4100 + priority shipping OTD 2 weeks ago.
I also looked seriously at a Platinum dial ceramic Speedmaster that listed around 12k, they indicated that they could be VERY flexible on price with that. Having a long-term relationship with this dealer for several decades, I seem to be treated very fairly. I check the grey market pricing, but not willing to have what may be second-tier repairs if needed. I prefer to have authorized Omega service available.

I’m just wondering if this is a permanent trend with the MSRP and Grey Market margin squeezing or if this is temporary? Watches actually selling at MSRP would be tremendous for Omegas Brand.

A while back someone posted an article here that stated that Omega was attempting to reduce the number of their watches that reached the grey market. Whatever they are doing seems to be working. Not only have grey market dealers raised the price of omega considerably, they are also running shorter on supply. Jomashop, For example, is selling the moon watches for approximately $1000 more than they sold just 24 months ago with a promised shipping date of 6 to 10 weeks.
