Dear all,

Thank you for a great forum. I have spent the past months reading old threads a have learnt a lot.

I have a question about the tritium on the five minute markers on this 105.012.

They have sort of shriveled. I don't know what to think of this diel, which is nice overall.

Happy to hear what you more experienced guys think.

They have sort of shriveled.

You have to understand, they are over 50 years old. However, if you wait ten minutes after intense use, have a cigarette, and then gently rub the case, they will expand out again.

Bob, point taken. Yes, its a bit anal but with ten grand on the table its worth to take a closer look.

Nice to meet you and welcome to the forum.😀
I'm not very experienced, but the clock in the picture is nice.

Thanks for the welcome. No, the watch is not mine. The seller is looking for offers on it.

Mine are a little shriveled and gotten a little flaky too.

I’ve even had a few chunks fall off. I wouldn’t be concerned.

Do you have more pics? what offers is the seller entertaining? I know you don't want to give a lead away but we can't help without more info.

Thanks, maybe this is just the way they were made. Nice one, BTW.
Some age better than others. There were different generations of compound used, different contractors, hands weren’t by the same folks that did the dials- lots of variables. The key when you’re playing with this kind of money is -do you find it attractive? At $10k, you have a very large pool from which to choose and there are millions of these out there- you can be as anal as you want- it’s your money, and you should love the watch.

Jw,

Absolutely, dial and case manufacturing was a mess back then so you see all sorts of odd things. And one should always do one's due diligence, especially considering the funds involved. But Bob is also correct, you want NOS you can hunt fot the rest of your life.

Watch looks very good from the outside: Original crown and pushers, well defined case with a bit of wear.

A little lume loss on the minute hand but otherwise the hands look very good too.

Watch doesn't look like beeing messed around with but before purchase you should also see the inside.

If the price is OK I would go for it

Per Speedmaster 101 current price charts. The CB and HF have no difference in pricing. Which is another subject entirely.
ratings order: poor, fair, good, very good, excellent and US dollars if I am not mistaken.

Without movement pics and more pics in general, a proper evaluation can't be made. Moving forward is a gamble.
