Dear OF members,

Firstly my gratitude to all of you for your wonderful sharing of knowledge & enthusiasm towards vintage watch. I have been visiting the forum frequently since few months ago, and making some newbie mistakes (Didn't do homework and just eagerly post a thread asking for opinion on watches)

If not because of OF, I would have zero knowledge on vintage watches.

Over the last few months, I have made 3 purchases based on what I learnt here and ofcourse with the generous help from some members here.

1. My first purchase was a SS constellation pie pan. Thanks for the great help from Troels, without his guidance, I would not be able to make my first purchase. Polished but a decent condition connie IMO. Minimal speckles on the dial.
Photos as below, apology for my poor photo taking skill.

2. This is a bulova wrist alarm.
I didn't seek help from any member as I thought I wouldn't want to bother anyone for such purchase.
Again fair condition IMO, but the hour and minute hand can be better. One of the crown is not signed too. But sharp case.

Finally my last and latest purchase, just made the payment to the seller, photos are from seller.
No disrespect to the seller, but I will be really grateful if fellow members here can comment on this watch and how I did this time?
Thanks to another great member for his kind opinion before I made the jump..thanks Boogedyboo ( Alex) .

Below are the seller's photo for the watch.

Price aside, did I did OK for the above watches, especially the 145. 022 78?

I go for this 145.022 78 because I wanted a real classic vintage watch, and this watch could potentially be my birth year watch
(Serial is 44xx xxxx)

Thank you OF!

Tan

Looks correct for a -78 in good condition.

The 1171 looks very worn vs the watch though.

Agreed, but tempted by the idea of a birth year watch in good condition (head)

Very nice start to a collection- and never be ashamed of a Bulova, there is a thread devoted to many of us that love them and appreciate their lauded place in watch history. I have about 5 myself.

Definitely took desk diving to a new level!

My only other comment is that I’m not convinced the hands are tritium. Pictures are a bit hard to see. That isn’t the worst thing in the world, as it could mean it’s been serviced at least once. But I would want to check them with a light.

Congrats! Nice vintage pieces. Vintage is a fantastic world. And vintage Speedys are still reasonable priced to be a real icon.
...if you stay away from 321, step dials and DONs.😀

Whoops missed that... but a simple flash light test will answer it.

No I'm not ashamed of the watch...its a very nice and unique watch. I love it.
More of ashamed of myself needing to bother others for own matter.

According to seller everything is original. Will do the test when received the watch.

That’s what this support system is about- helping others learn. Eventually you will pass it on to other new collectors. Knowledge not shared is knowledge wasted.
