Grandfather's Speedmaster back from servicing

A few months ago I shared that I received my grandfather's Omega and asked for advice on next steps. After listening to what many suggested I wanted to share after getting it back from a fantastic local watchmaker who took the upmost care of cleaning it up without polishing away the beauty in it's age. Complete service turn around time of 6 weeks including inspected/cleaned internals, new main spring, new gaskets, replaced crystal, tightened up bracelet

As expected, I think it looks absolutely incredible and am looking forward to many, many more years of good use.

(internal image before servicing, you can see the gasket completely deteriorated)

This process confirmed a few things for me:
Ref: 145.022-69
Serial 30......
Estimated Production: July 1970

Thanks for the update. So much better to see this than the "how much is it worth?" posts and then never seen again.

My pleasure, I understand the curiosity behind that question but when it will never be sold by me does it really matter? I cannot wait for the day to be able to pass this down to my son/daughter.

I believe that bracelet is a 1116/575. I have one on my own 145.022-69 speedmaster. It is a very comfortable bracelet!

For insurance purposes it’s actually useful, but you shd probably check with your insurance company…
Congrats on a beautiful heirloom.
Best regards

@skoheels
The folks here go a little nuts on (Speed)Tuesdays.
My guess is that its not going to make much of a difference to you.
In all likely hood you're enjoying Granddads watch everyday from now on.

Congrats on a fab watch.
Cheers

Its a beauty congrats it came out great. I checked back on your earlier post, and as suspected this was a earlier 1970 watch before the changeover to 220 bezel in Fall of 1970. Your serial number if I can see it correctly is 30,580... so July 1970 makes sense. My 220 Error bezel serial is 30,589... and EOA says delivered Sept 1970. Mine also has original 1116/575 bracelet- I think your watch is also on the original bracelet. Wear it in good health- if they didnt change crown/pushers and pressure test be careful around water exposure.

Thank you! You read it correctly, probably the last handful of thousands made with the DON before the 220 was put on. Crown and pushers were replaced (I have the originals still) but definitely not getting this anywhere near water.
