Mmmmm...bacon馃檮

Bacon makes everything better. A bunch of us went out for a friend's birthday to http://c19philly.com - it ended up being 3 guys and over a dozen women. The owners are Italian and speak with heavy accents. The wife was one very attractive woman and came to read the specials. Not one of the guys could understand her; we just stared at her mesmerized by her curves. We caught one word: bacon! That's all we needed to hear. All 3 of us ordered it and nobody was really sure what it was. Luckily it was pasta with bacon in the sauce.

1 tablespoon clarified butter
1 pound 4 ounces Pancetta, diced
1 teaspoon finely diced garlic
1/4 cup white wine
5 ounces heavy cream
Cooked pasta, for serving
1/4 cup finely grated Parmesan, plus more for serving
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt

Heat the butter in a large saute pan. Add the Pancetta and saute until slightly brown. Add the garlic, saute briefly, and then deglaze with the wine. Reduce the wine by half, and then add the heavy cream. Reduce this by one third, and then toss in your cooked pasta. Heat the pasta through and add the Parmesan, white pepper, and salt and toss. Pour into bowls and add more Parmesan cheese.

...yum...

Gotta love a forum where the OP not only doesn't mind his thread got hijacked, he willingly pushes it further down the side path.

Thanks Norm! I might have to mix up some of that soon.

I didn't know it was possible to live kosher down under. 馃槤
It is relatively easy to be propertly kosher in Sydney and Melbourne. There is a large enough community of frum jews to ensure that you can get everything you need.

I don't keep properly kosher. I don't eat pork/ham/bacon or shellfish. Nor do I mix meat and dairy in the same dish. However, I don't care about the meat being kosher, nor do I have separate fleishig/milchig cultery/crockery/etc. Nor do I keep any real gap between meat and dairy (ie. I'll quite happily have a dairy dessert after a meat main).

The closest way I come to kosher is not liking American football.

(pigskin = nickname for a football)

I'd make a pretty bad Muslim or Jewish guy. Luv my pork products! Without them, I'd have to stop eating breakfast entirely.

In stainless steel - but not gold.

Wait, that's nothing to do with kosher, but it is something in Muslim. This stuff is confusing.

Yeah, as a moslem men I can own 'all gold' watch but I can not wear one.
So I already have a mutual benefit arrangement with my wife. I will buy gold watch for appreciating, photographing, looking after etc. and she will be the one who will wear it. She is happily accept this arrangement and could not wait for my first incoming gold watch purchase.

Well there you go, I did not know that about the Muslim religion. Knew the Jewish kosher stuff but not the Muslim gold stuff. Out of interest, why, if you don't mind me asking?
