Maybe there's an exception as I have seen a 2914-1 case back with Seamonster.

And I’ve seen 2914-2’s casebacks without.

I owned a 2914-1 that sold at philips last year in ny. There definitely correct case backs of that model with seamonster and without

Interesting project. Too expensive , I guess. There is rust on the dial. Numeral 9 shows that. There will be more. The crystal pressure ring shows rust inside as well. These thick crystals , even when cracked, hold up well. Just clean the dial surface with a very soft brush from flaking paint. The radium wells you have to assess, when dial is out of the case. So far, I'd do nothing with the lume. The rest is easy to restore. Movement no problem. All parts are easy to find. The soft iron mvmt holder might have deteriorated as well. Mvmt. out and clean that holder with a soft brass brush, like they used to clean Suede Shoes. If rust, leave it imersed in lemon juice for few days. That should stop the rust process a bit. Inner soft iron lid will be ok. If spring loaded inner ring is missing, there are aftermarket ones from Belgium. If all soft iron parts are too far gone, buy a cheap and unattractive military 1953 with the same parts and replace. Or have them machined from soft iron. Don't use steel, complete different look and easy to spot. Mvmt. would have been opened and hopefully serviced in the past, judging by the deep gauges in the back, left from a Watch Butcher......looking forward to more pics. Kind regards. Achim

I'm guessing the buyer will pop up in a week or so asking for advice 🙄

I saw a pretty nice 2914 for sale on Instagram a few weeks ago for 7k which was bought by a member here on OF. To me 9k is too much for this one, expecially with the work needed, but if it cleans up nicely could be a fair buy

Here are a couple of 2914-5 PAF Seamasters to illustrate the dial concern.

I’m the 3rd OF member to own this beauty, and I’m glad I waited for this example to become available. For a 60+ year old RM, the dial is truly pristine and very attractive.

In comparison is a very nice PAF I passed on 3 years ago. A fine piece but the speckled damage caused by the radium burn in is very evident.

You had me at hook "S", drop "r"........👍

I have the same patination on one of my iron dialed amagnetics and the speckled pattern cannot be due to radium burn. If it was, we'd see it on a lot more dials across the entire vintage watch scene and not primarily with iron dialed watches. My guess is that it's due to moisture reacting to the dial material.
