Good deals in Athens, Greece?

Greetings, a new member here. Been on the aviation thread mainly. I am headed to Greece next week, and was wondering if anyone had any hidden gems of watch dealers in Athens? Coming from Qatar, where I have bought Omega, IWC, and Rolex, I am a sucker for a good deal. The only problem with collecting more watches will be that my wife will be meeting me there. Kind of like brining the game warden with you hunting or fishing. Let me know who you recommend, and who to avoid.

If anyone wants to know some great watch deals in Qatar, I can point you to some legit resellers.

Thanks! Happy New Year!

Not sure I'm going to be much more helpful than a google search since I haven't been to Athens in a while. However, Athens does have its shops/areas of interest grouped together (i.e. all the flower shops on one street/block, all the tailors on another, etc) and this is generally true for watches as well. You'll probably want to start near the Panepistimio (University of Athens) stop and just walk around and explore. There will be lots of watch/watch related shops concentrated in that area. There are also some nice boutiques, not necessarily watch brands, but that will carry nice watches, leather goods, pens, etc.
If you're more after the big brands or even corporate offices, then you'll want to head towards Syntagma Square (easily walkable from Panepistimio). There may be some official boutiques that way. In general, in fact I would say start your exploration between these two stops.
Another more adventurous option would be to head to Monastiraki. There are lots of various shops there selling antiques, jewelery, some more touristy things as well, but you may get lucky.
Regarding your good deals I'll just say this: it is generally accepted and almost expected that you will try to haggle/negotiate on price, so don't be shy.
Good luck!

Hello,
Let me know when you are willing to visit Athens and i will send you with pm 2 or 3 dealers where you will find some Ω deals with at least 15% off retail.

Unfortunately, i'm not familiar with Rolex dealers since i don't play their game.

Thank you for the replies. I am currently in Athens, and have found the boutiques. No rolexs, just like the states. The IWC, JLC, and Omega have some good watches, but only coming down about 5%. The biggest deal, is the rebate on VAT of 24%. A couple different ways to get that back, but haven't bought anything yet. I'd appreciate the introduction to the omega dealer to get a little more taken off the top though, I want to get the 34mm aqua terra for the wife.

A couple of weeks ago two guys entered the Rolex OB with sledgehammers and allegedly left with a bunch of the exhibition pieces, so have they restoked the exhibition watches yet? Maybe these are in abundance...

That would explain all the security in the area, both in uniform and plain clothes. The Rolex store had 6 pieces.

I was offered 9% off for the Speedy at Athens airport last year, I am sure you can do much better than 5%. On many brands a few years ago, it was not unusual to even get 20% off retail.

A good trip to Athens, there were some good deals on Omegas after VAT tax refund. However, I picked up a pair of JLC Reverso's for the wife and I. Was not expecting that one. Thanks to @w@tcher for the locations of some nice stores.

HI there,I am also a new user, can you PM dealers for some Omega deals. WIll be back in Athens early to mid 2024 so keen to get in front of the game with this. Assuming the tax free (VAT refund) will apply?

Thanks!
