I have a question more like opinions as I know buy what you like & wear what you like. I'm not a stylish fashion man,I'm a t-shirt & jeans guy & during the Summer here in Arizona a Dickie shorts & t-shirt guy. So I've been hunting a s/s 168.005 for over a year 1/2 now w/ no luck, thought I had a specimen tracked down but thanks to a couple esteemed members here they steered me away from it. ( BTW Thanks guys & you know who you are) ....Thanks for nothing..HeHeHe ! Anywho I'm not a Gold guy but as of L8ly I've been zeroing in on a Gold capped 168.005 I will assume it's me getting older. My question is , is it a fashion faux pas to wear a Gold timepiece the way I dress jeans, shorts & t-shirts ONLY Your opinions & thoughts are appreciated. William
I wear my SS and gold capped Connies with both suits and t-shirts. The gold ones I reserve for formal dress - but in all honesty it’s only me that knows that they’re solid so it shouldn’t make a difference. However, I find pie pans a bit too dressy for casual dress and prefer dome dials. But it’s all down to personal taste. And don’t forget to post your targets ...
No, it’s the other way around. Edit: or “Wear what you buy, like what you want. Or “want what you buy, like what you wear”
I think a gold watch can look pretty cool with t-shirt and jeans or chinos. Army green t-shirt, beige chinos, dark brown sailor shoes and a gold Connie... killer if you ask me
Pfft - now you have forced me to deploy the Law of Thelema "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Love is the law, love under will"
See I think your version looks fine but your also wearing nice shirts. but what about the IMO dressier 168.005 which I'm after
Do what feels good. Rules are meant to be broken, especially those concerning fashion. The caveat here FOR ME is simply being tasteful. But that’s me. For example, some guys will wear a bling-afied monster complication with a natty suit (or flip flops, which would be ok, I guess, if one was piloting their yacht). Whatever. Not my thing. But fill yer boots. But the watch to which you refer is an all around classic. I agree Pie Pans are a tad dressy, yet the beauty of most Omegas is their aesthetic flexibility. Your target will be killer with jeans and a T-shirt, or with a sports jacket, pocket square and dress shirt. Or suit. My $.02.
I think it can work with the right strap, but this is more about you feeling comfortable with it than about what we say.
The only real issue is the gold cap. It’s so hard to find a good example that it will probably be quicker to find a solid gold example. If you’re thinking gold then there is really no substitute for solid gold.
Haven't seen a solid gold dog-leg. And oh are dog leg nice... That being said, they do soften up and lose definition over time, making it even harder to find good examples.
I'm looking @ Gold capped. I have a lrg enough collection that it would be in a rotation so not everyday wear. Solid IMO would be strictly for dressier occasions which I have no reason too.
Oh yes they are Ben & I have an itch somethin' fierce. Really want a s/s but damn are they hard to come by. I saw 1 last week sell here & I wasn't online that day as I was travelling. & Yesterday I see another 1 sold here & I was so focused on the mentioned above that I missed it. Story of my life.
I have quite a fleet of gold watches. it's a thing with me apparently. I wear em with Polo / T Shirts Jeans without shame!
