Gold case refinishing?

Can any one recommend a really good case refinisher (ideally but not necessarily in the UK) who would work on a solid 18K gold case?

Please don't say the Lapinist because he hasn't answered my enquiries and I get the impression that gold isn't his thing anyway.

Just looking for someone who can sharpen up a worn bevel and restore the brushed finish to some surfaces. In my naivety I would have thought this would be much easier on an 18K case than on SS because the metal is much softer, but it seems to be incredibly difficult to find anyone offering such services who replies to emails...

You probably want to talk to Peter:

Don’t know what you would do about UK customs.

Brilliant, that looks like exacty the sort of person I'm looking for. A goldsmith as well as a case refinisher!

In theory I should only have to pay import taxes on the cost of the service, not the value of the watch. Could be complicated though..

Good luck with that via HMRC. I’d really try and find a UK based craftsperson. Failing that, consider declaring only the value of the service on the package and adding third party insurance such as Secursus

I'm beginning to come around to that PoV. I contacted Peter and he is able to do this sort of work, but I get the impression that the complications of sending a gold watch case back and forward to The States without paying tax on its full value are formidable.. It can be done, but seems to involve a lot of non-standard paperwork at both ends.

So I probably need to find a good case refinisher in the UK. This is quite tricky as it's critical to find a real professional as this will make all of the difference between a great result and ruining the watch.. ;-)

Any suggestions...?
