Peemacgee
·Rarely do we see such a nice gold capped piepan for sale so I though I would post this - but mainly because prospective buyers should approach with some caution.
The case on this gold capped Connie is really very nice indeed - a bit of scuffing but those facets are a joy.
The dial is nice and clean and I can't see any obvious lume loss.
The medallion is pretty good with only some loss of definition on the high points.
So, that's the good.
The problem is the movement.
There has evidently been some rotor rub at some point.
The problem is that it looks like the bridge (and possibly the rotor as a package) has, frustratingly, been replaced with a non-chronometer version.
(the alternative is that it is a non-chronometer movement with the plate with the cal ref replaced)
This is very frustrating as otherwise this is a very nice watch.
It may not bother some and it shouldn't affect the performance if indeed it is a cal 561- but it will affect the value as it is essentially now a frankenwatch.
To my mind, the opening price (plus commission) is all the money but others may disagree.
You pay your money, you make your choice as they say.....
