Seems to be the season for patchy brown Ed Whites. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-O...550420?hash=item3f6cb21794:g:g-4AAOSwh2xX-ZLOPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Neither of them particularly appealing.
The HQ Milton watch is a 64.. would havebut its very patchy It looks like the dial has had quite a harsh life
Forgive me for mentioning it once again, but here is what I think of browns http://speedmaster101.com/blog/brown-dials/
the dial of the one on ebay is attractive to me, but for that kind of dial I think the bezel should be in a similar state, not that clean?
fo me both dials are ugly and i would never go for one of them. tropical, going tropical is the new gold and people going crazy no matter how uneven or patchy the dial is. i would always prefer a perfect black.
Here is one for sale or sold which look really much more interesting to my eyes.. http://cda.chronomania.net/forum_entry.php?id=161951
A "tropical" dial is a dial from a known batch of paint that fades over time. This is consistent across the board for other similar references that came from the same batch. Not to be confused with a "damaged" dial...most sellers today refer to water, moisture or sun damaged dials as tropical. They are not the same thing and the values should be miles apart...unfortunately some buyers have been paying a premium for what is just damage.
its that magic words supply and demand , $13k this years next year this could be a bargain price to pay .
