·Interesting. I was looking for something else and I found was distracted by a 1976 fortran textbook (I would have used in the late 1970s.) It had punched cards for bookmarks. I was thinking about the old keypunch data entry systems. Mostly remember the touch those old devices had. I kept a set of keycaps from a broken keypunch I was going to use. Somehow I lost all but one keycap.
I remember running the keycaps of my first keyboard through the dishwasher to clean them. Wish I still had that keyboard. It used magnetic reed contacts. I still have a bunch of old Mac ADB keyboards. Never getting round to make a USB interface for it.
My second keyboart was from a Hazeltine terminal like one would see in the early space missions. I still have the magnetic core memory from that (which sadly got something dropped on it breaking a few of the little ferrite rings.)
Wonder if some still have working keypunches in their collections?
