I let my best Speedy go to a forum member not long ago. OK, he paid well for sure, but before the sale, I had no intention to sell it, but since he was very eager to get a really good specimen, I decided to let him have it. Although I was pretty sure that I wouldn´t be able to source an eqally good one again. During the mid summer weekend, a little more than a week ago, here in Sweden, the below one was listed on the equivalent of Craigslist; a Finnish guy from Tammerfors selling a Speedy that he bought on auction in Uppsala, Sweden in the early 80ies, and had had lying in a drawer ever since. I didn´t believe my eyes when I saw it, and I didn´t believe my luck when I realised, after contacting the seller, 14 hours after the listing, that he hadn´t sold it! To day I met up with him in, on his vacation in the southwest of Sweden, and could bring with me home this beauty of a 321 Speedmaster, 105.012-65: It´s great when your dedication and constant searching for good vintage watches pays off, every now and then!
Great find! Since you've obviously used now used up your "good deed" credits, allow me to help... What else can be pried from your collection to earn more deed points? I stand ready to pony up! p.s. dibs!
This is unbelievable! A Fin selling to a Swede a beaty like this. That´s almost criminal Next time you visit Helsinki please bring along one nice Seamaster Chrono. I´ll be waiting with some cold beer
That bracelet has the reverse of stretch. Is it possible this watch was worn to like one wedding and then placed into it's BVD drawer time capsule?
Only worn, by the first owner, to church on Sundays.... And he wasn´t especially religious The bracelet is fantastic, full lenght, and no stretch whatsoever. The dial and hands even still glows some in the dark, when first put under a lamp.
Wowowowow. It's really inspiring to see that watches of this quality still exist, and that they can pop up out of nowhere at anytime. Congratulations on such a sweet score - something tells me you have put in your time before being rewarded with this find.
