GMT OPINION: Should I get a Ceramic or Pre-Ceramic GMT Master II? First Rolex

Hey @meganfox17 I could be completely wrong in my evaluation, but I just don't trust online sellers in Brazil. I am not aware of any local equivalents to DavidSW/ Watchuwant etc. I also worry about phishing attempts with people using online sales to find out you are potential target for robbery. Rio is a beautiful place, but I do live in a much more heightened state of security awareness than most.馃槈

If I had a "DavidSW" in Brazil...I would be buying grey market/pre-owned Omegas such as the DSOTM etc. left right and center. At US$8K the XXOTM watches are very good value for money馃憤. So unfortunately all my watches had to be purchased in boutiques or ADs, the positives being relationship perks.

Where did you capture the rumor around the ceramic coke for Basel 2017? I did not see anything in the Rolex Passion report. Are you sure they would release it on SS and not white gold first?

Ha6x! @Nobel Prize would be here..... Any minute now........[emoji3] Sergio is your GO-TO-GUY not me Riviera. I'm not worthy to be in the same arena like you guys[emoji3]
I heard about the rumours in the Rolex Forum & didnt the Rolex passion report make some passing comments ? I mean the some readers were very vocal &
passionate about the Coke-c... Ahhh...good read though...[emoji4]
Yeah , Nick's right you know . Perhaps we should just keep dreaming 'bout the SS ! Rolex would release a platinum or white gold version just to piss everyone off [emoji14]

I would not choose the ceramic LN over a pre-ceramic GMT. I can't warm to the Pepsi bezel colours for some reason, so the inserts would not be that useful for me on the pre-ceramic.

So..I would either go pre-ceramic Coke or ceramic BLNR as I think the blue on the BLNR lightens the chunkier ceramic bezel effect. All very much personal taste of course...OP will be happy with whatever choice he makes馃榾

I second that ! The OP will not be making any wrong decisions here....
It's amazing with Rolex watches isnt it [emoji4] ?

Count me out. IO know what I know but I am not always sure of what I don't know...and that is dangerous when giving advice.

I keep liking all these chinese symbols, and whatever other may be....I like the symbols but I apologize for liking them if they happen to be saying something horrible like: "Trump"

Definitely preceramic for me. I guess if you like patina go for the aluminum bezel which you can find faded, tritium will patina. If you don't like that look go for the ceramic.

I've owned two 16710s, one coke and one black bezel, and is much rather have one than ceramic. Longer lugs, more symmetrical, much better bezel font, the list goes on. I have a 16713 (SS/18K) now and love it.

I would wholeheartedly recommend a 16710 over a 116710, the later being way too bulky IMHO.
To make it even more dressy and add that cool vintage touch to it, you could wear it on a jubilee, a configuration I've never seen on a 116710.

Jubilee on GMT IIc has been done often. Google "loevhagen jubilee" or just "116710 jubilee".

Not everyone loves the look, but I think Loevhagen's BLNR looks great.

Personally, although I prefer the sleeker shape of the older GMT Master, I really love ceramic bezels. Really bothered by aluminum bezel inserts that have been scratched through to the metal.

I don't really worry about shattered ceramic--I have never dropped a watch in my adulthood.

Thanks !

@zizan8 : Never said it doesn't exist. Just said I never saw it. And now that I have seen it, I know why it's not so common. In my opinion, there's something that doesn't quite fit.

Others would agree with you. I like it, but I think the reason it's not so common is as much the extra cost and trouble to source a Rolex jubilee bracelet as anything.

Thank You @Nobel Prize . The Sneaky Chinaman said he would sell me the Pepsi & help me change the bezel insert for an additional RM1500 ! But the last AD I went to here didnt allow me to do such things .The Seller had a big angry frown on his forehead ! Yes.. I think the older ref 16710 & 16750 bezel have slightly different diameter sizes too. Lots of fakes & improper fitting bezel inserts on ebay

P/S I have that Coke on that hairy wrist photo on my hp ![emoji14] just to remind myself I need that Coke minus the hairy limb back !

You are absolutely correct. A slight difference on the inside of the diameter, larger on the sapphire (16710), indeed an improper fitting on the bezel.
