    Hey guys,

I have the opportunity to purchase a late A serial 16710 coke with box and papers locally. Unsure of exact condition, but seller states it has been serviced

Just wondering, should this serial have SEL and lug holes? And what would you value a set like this at?

I am awaiting better photos soon, but at the moment this will have to do.

    Further photos
Seems like a lot of stretch in the bracelet, but original i wold assume. What do you think about the case condition?

I've seen other "A" Serial watches with SEL's so, I personally wouldn't worry about that. More troubling to me is the overall condition. The watch has not been babied and what is the gunk around the cyclops? If it's been serviced, when and by whom? If you can get it for a bargain price, go for it. Otherwise there are better examples out there. Good luck to you. :) IMG_2982 Cropped Web.jpg

Thanks for the reply @ag986 . The bracelet is very stretched, but could probably see what could be done to by Michael in Hk to repair it.

Not sure what the gunk on the Cyclops is, but is only on one photo, so maybe it'll brush off?

I think I'd be getting it for a 'good' price, just wanna make sure even in its worn condition (my knowledge is that it was a daily wearer) I could still be comfortable moving it later on.

Serial matches paper work :), and further photos of lugs. Look like they're in ok condition?

The condition of the lugs is commensurate with the overall condition of the watch. If you are comfortable with the price, buy it. I would factor in the cost of service and a light polish if you plan to resell it at some point in the future.

Still working that one out @watch3s - how much would you be willing to go for it?

I think we're trying for one that is good for both me and the seller, and that would give me room to get the band restored and a service. If there aren't significant dings, I'd probably leave the case - not too much of a fan of polishing.

Here is the thing about that, because of its overall condition and bracelet condition id walk away from it. For example the one in my picture has minimal stretch its not excessive but its not bothering me. I paid well exchanged a 14060M+speedy reduced + $500 cash for it at a hand to hand exchange, so lets say $7250 was my final cost. The watch you've shown, id at best offer $5800/$6000 because of the leg work that would have to be done to make it right.

I know the pricing on these are going up up and away and I haven't been following the exact details closely.....but looking at the watch I don't see anything alarming. Looks like a nice complete set (tags and goodies and all) and the case is in decent condition....definitely not overpolished and still has strong lugs and crown guards. Bracelet has a bit of stretch but come on....it's almost a 20 year old watch.....doesn't surprise me one bit. The coronet on the bracelet tells me the bracelet has good honest wear without excessive polishing either. Looks like a strong one to me and if you did want to clean it up/cut up the lugs to have chamfers etc, plenty of room to do this also.

Thanks for all the comments! I went through with the purchase today. Had a great time talking to the one owner and happy to pick this piece up from him.

    Looks great.

Got mine a few weeks ago, and I haven’t worn many of my other watches since then.

If you're in the mood for sharing then I'd love to know how your collection is looking over all Ed.
There's some great watches that I remember you chasing and I'm curious what you've been able to keep or if you've traded up each time.
Just being nosy so apologies and simply ignore me if I'm being rude.
I'm up in Brisbane and have had zero luck locally but you seem to have really put the effort in to make the right contacts and have your finger on the pulse. I genuinely admire your enthusiasm and effort.

Thanks guys! This actually makes for my second 16710 coke, both were too good to pass up on (well atleast that's what I tell myself)

@Emeister I have photos of my watches on my instagram which is just 'edtheaussie', I haven't sold anything lately so they are mostly current. I will definitely need to consolidate to make any more purchases though, the allotted spending money has gone!
