possibility to acquire this 1978 model, but suspicious of the imperfections in the dial : fat markers, thin crown, the un-aligned 3d line - could it be a service dial ? Your POVs would be great !

Nothing wrong with the dial, it’s an MK5 which is period correct for ‘78.

I recommend doing some serious research prior to pulling the trigger on a 1675, there are a lot of nuances and dial variations.

Good luck with your search.

GMTmasterHistory or GMTmaster1675 are great resources to get started.

You’ll need to be aware of relumed dials, hands and recut cases which have direct impact on price.

Always buy the seller, I would stay away from sellers you are not familiar with. The best watches I have bought are from fellow collectors I knew and more importantly trusted. Chrono 24 is a mine field, I’d stay away and proceed with extreme caution.

Best.

A better photo of the dial, i am worried about the fat indexes , it may be a service dial . Also , The second hand looks different from the other hands

You have to study the 5 different dials of the 1675. 16750 had 2 different matte dials and then glossy dials. The differences are the look of the crown on the dial and the way the letters line up. For example the way the A of mAster lines up with the H of cHronometer. Some you can tell the difference right away, some are more subtle. For example Mk3 has a radial dial and is instantly recognisable. Service dials are mostly superluminova with no "T" on the dial next to "SWISS" and have white plots.

Then learn how to check if the insert is original or a service replacement. The condition of the case is important too, most have been polished.
