my friends , I ll be send a copy of the card, but , sadly the reality is mirky: plenty of Rolex authorised cats -- the authorisation can be bought as most labels-- and this will not gurantee the provenance of the hands/ dial, which is what I need . Rolex basic service is 2500 € + and usually those collectors keep their watches.

You're not a fan of Tempus uurwerktechniek, they are highly recommend on the Dutch watchforum?
I’ve never been there. I’m not a fan of an entire forum always shouting 1 name when there are 10 others. And they quoted a friend of mine a service on a 5 digit Daytona only EUR 25 cheaper than the AD

Rolex SA service you mean?

I don’t get your point. With watches like this it is quite easy to see whether the dial is period correct or not. You definitely don’t need SA

changes are hard for me personally and if this is not an amazing example, it is perhaps better to keep the good old Sub - she is mostly kept under a slab in the attic - Paris is very criminal, burglaries are daily.

The service and the dial are two separate elements.
If the dial, bezel or hands aren’t original it negatively impacts value.
If it’s had a recent documented service by Rolex or a respected watchmaker, that can have a positive impact on value.

I only have one Sub , which I bought (thanks for your advice , Dan S) . It would be basically a swap : I paid 8.5 for the Sub and will add 1K and get the 1981GMT . The GMT tends to be rarer, and on average more exensive, so I thought it might be a good deal. But I may be wrong. This is my Sub - below.

How many minutes have you owned this sub?

quite a brief honeymoon. You may want to find that model of GMT locally and see if you like it on the wrist.

It won't help as the dial was not considered during the revision and it was obviously NOT the Rolex SA in Switzerland but an 'authorised' dealer (meaningless term) - otherwise the price would be much higher.
An authorized dealer is not a meaningless term.

The dealer has the 16750 GMT for sale at 12,900. 10,000 is a huge discount and under market value... and 8,500 seems low for a matte dial 1680. What am I missing?

Hard to tell for sure from those pictures but I think that at 10k, it’s a pretty good deal for a matte 16750.
