White dials will never go out of style. Blue dials seem to be the fashion these days. Who knows how long it will last? I also wanted to like the GM but ultimately it was too heavy, thick, and chunky for my taste. You won't know until you tried it on. Before trying it on it looked great on paper to me. As others have said, the 39mm wears much bigger due to the thin bezel. That's why Vintage Seamaster, even though only 34mm, wears much larger. I wish the current GMs were 36mm and much thinner and lighter.
Look at my attached photo comparison. I have 6.5" wrists so close to yours. See how even though the Dark Side of the Moon is much larger at 44mm+, it looks about the same on me as the 39mm GM? The smaller bezel of the GM means a larger dial which makes the watch look bigger.
